An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Palliative Care service for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 3 Patient Access Coordinator to join the team.
The role requires the ability to liaise with all disciplines of staff i.e. Directorate Managers, Consultants, Nurses and administrative colleagues, work well as part of a team, be professional and personable at all times.
The post will require working cross-site rotational working between St Thomas' Hospital and Guy's Hospital.
The post holder will be required to support the team with scheduling appointments, receptionist duties, telephone cover, basic data entry and stock ordering and management.
The Palliative care teams provide specialist advice on pain and other physical symptoms that affect people facing serious illness. The service also provides advice on psychological, emotional, social and spiritual concerns. This includes delivery of care to dying adult patients and those important to them via high quality End of Life Care. The End of Life Care team provide holistic support to all patients at the end of their life, in hospital and in the community. The administration team must jointly support the varying sub-teams in the whole Palliative and End of Life Care department.
The Integrated Local Services directorate provides a range of community and inpatient health services for adults within the communities of Lambeth and Southwark, with some services also provided in Lewisham. Our hospital
- based inpatient and outpatient services provide care for adults from across the region.
The main duties will include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
1. Receptionist duties including being a first point of contact for the department, handling phone calls
2. Scheduling appointments
3. Assisting with cashing up clinics correctly
4. Dealing with patient/doctor/nurse telephone queries.
5. Dealing with face to face queries
6. Control of stock inventory including PPE and Medical Equipment
7. Basic data entry
