Seven Resourcing is working with Leicester City Council to recruit a Homelessness Prevention Officer. £16.12 - £17.53 PAYE OR £19.91 - £21.70 UMBRELLA York House - Granby Street Hybrid role If they work in the Duty Team - face-to-face assessments are done on Tues and Thursday. "2/3 months at a minimum Temp to perm opportunities" **Job Purpose**: To prevent and relieve homelessness in the city by assisting customers to either retain their present accommodation or by the provision of an alternative housing resolution and ensuring access to suitable housing for those in need in line with the Homelessness Strategy and relevant statutory legislation. **Duties**: - Understanding of homelessness that the team can train upon. - Homelessness Legislation involved and important. Legal knowledge would be good but not a dela breaker. - Training provided but can pick up and learn quickly. Willingness to learn and pick things up quickly. - Homelessness assessments - single person or family present or threatened as homeless. - Relief Stage - already homeless - Prevention Stage - in the process of becoming homeless. - Will hold a caseload and progress these cases in the legal timeframe. - Have to make decisions as to whether situations that come in are an emergency or can be booked in, in the future. - Legal Decision Letters will be used (templates to help). - Worked in a Hostel or Homelessness environment would be helpful. - Related knowledge and transferable skills. - Good customer care skills - empathy and understanding. **Applicant Requirements**: - **Qualifications**: Knowledge of all homelessness legislation, housing legislation, welfare benefit expertise and social care knowledge Knowledge of the 1996 Housing Act, the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, the Children’s Act and the Care Act E Knowledge in relation to 1-2 homelessness / homelessness prevention areas e.g. domestic violence, mental health, care leavers, 16- and 17-year olds, offenders, private-rented sector, IT and data systems Strong awareness of current issues in the field of housing / homelessness. - **Experience**: Experience of working with homeless clients Experience of carrying out interviews, investigations, negotiations Experience of managing a caseload - **Compliance**: Up to date Passport and DBS - **Travel**: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently. - **Hours**: 37.5 hours p/w. **Working with Seven Social Care**: We have been helping social care professionals find exciting new roles for almost a decade, so we know exactly where to look when it comes to sourcing the best opportunities.
