Job description
Full Time and Part-Time/ 37 and 18.5 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term 12 Months
Play a key role in making a difference to some of the most vulnerable people in the city.
Our work is extremely challenging, but also extremely rewarding, changing lives for the better by tackling homelessness, building new homes, and strengthening communities. Engaging with people at a local level, we support them by delivering services that improve their lives.
Working on the front line, you’ll assist with the provision of a high-quality service to support people through the pathway into and out of council funded temporary accommodation. You’ll work with customers who are homeless, or threatened with homelessness, and local landlords who are looking for advice, either face-to-face, or over the telephone. You’ll provide support to those who may be struggling with substance misuse, break down in relationships, job loss, mental or physical health problems, facing domestic abuse, those being evicted, those who can no longer afford to pay their rent, and much more.
Putting the customer needs at the heart of everything you do, you'll be proactive, compassionate, and professional, to offer the best ongoing support to those in need. You’ll promote positive working relationships key stakeholders including providers of council funded temporary accommodation, local landlords and agents, as well as partner organisations. You’ll need to be resilient, with a high level of maturity and the ability to manage in a very busy environment. You’ll be able to deal with potentially stressful situations in a calm manner. With excellent interpersonal and listening skills, you’ll be able to empathise with clients, and build a strong and trusting relationship.
Join us and you’ll find yourself working a supportive team who are passionate, dedicated, and dynamic - working incredibly hard to ensure everyone has a place to call home. You’ll have the opportunity to work from home for a significant part of the week, and otherwise be based either in the office or work across the city as required.
**What we can offer you**
As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You’ll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working. We’ll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities. In addition, you can choose from a number of flexible benefits, including, discounts on city buses and trains and help with relocation to Leicester, where appropriate.
**Join us**
We’re committed to recruiting a diverse and highly-talented workforce as we continue to build a council that is fitting and representative of our great city. That’s why we’ve designed our recruitment process to put you at your ease, make you feel welcome and bring the best out of you. We’ll do all we can to make our recruitment process as fair as possible.
