We are looking for an Employee Communications & Engagement Officer to join our team and help engage our 2,000 colleagues at an exciting time for the University. We’re about to launch our Brighton 2030 strategy and there are some great stories to uncover and tell to support that journey. You will help track them down and bring them to life so that our colleagues understand where we’re going, why, and the important role that they play in our continued progress.
Your role reports to the Employee Communications & Engagement Manager and you will create content for a range of channels to tell the story of our progress and why we’re a great place to work. This role will give you the opportunity to contribute to channel development, identify what’s working and what can be improved, and work with stakeholders to shape impactful, effective campaigns and stories. The key responsibilities are:
- Develop and deliver engaging employee communications and engagement content.
- Gather, analyse, and act on audience insights to inform communication strategies.
- Enhance communication channels to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Work with colleagues to foster and embed a culture of open dialogue and two-way communication with employees.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in internal communications.
- Collaborate with colleagues at all levels to address issues and support strategic priorities.
You’re a great writer, able to flex your style for different audiences and channels. You’re also a sharp-eyed editor who can get to the heart of a story quickly and make the complex, simple. You’ll have extensive hands-on experience of managing employee communications channels day-to-day, and also improving them and coming up with new ways for us to engage audiences. Above all, you’re a team player who brings energy, ideas, and integrity. To be successful in this role you should have:
- Proven experience in internal communications and engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- An ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
- A passion for creating engaging and impactful content.
