**Job Title**: Community Worker (Sessional)

**Contractual Status**: Fixed Term Contract to 31st December 2024
**Salary**: £12.00 per hour
**Hours**: 4 hours per week
**Annual Leave Entitlement**: 25 days, plus 9 public holidays, plus 3 days for Christmas shutdown (pro-rata)

**What you’ll do**
We have an exciting opportunity for a Sessional Community Worker to join our Community Development team to work to deliver a range of high-quality programmes for children, young people, adults, and senior citizens within the communities FARE Scotland serves. This will involve working in partnership with various third and statutory sector organisations within FARE Scotland’s areas of responsibility. You will develop and participate in the delivery of a range of joint and needs identified activities and will have sound knowledge of the issues faced by children, young people, adults, and families.
As part of your role, your main responsibilities will include:
- Improving the communities’ health and wellbeing, by the provision of services to meet their social, emotional, and physical needs.
- Aiming to reduce poverty within communities by meeting people’s employment, educational and training needs, and by providing Scottish Qualifications Authority certificated courses and qualifications.
- Encouraging, supporting, enabling, and empowering people to be connected to their communities, and to act on their ideas, issues, and interests.
- Providing a caring, trusting environment, which will bring people together to foster positive community relations.
- Working as part of the FARE Scotland team to develop and provide appropriate programmes, internal referral processes and systems to achieve positive outcomes in line with the aims of FARE Scotland.
- Delivering direct support for children, young people, and their families through a variety of programmes.
- Ensuring all work including programmes, training, interventions and support to individuals, groups and organisations are effectively recorded and monitored to facilitate planning, achieve outcomes, and contribute to performance management on an individual, project and organisational basis using the information to produce high quality statistics and reports as required.
- Developing positive relationships with external providers who can holistically support children, young people, and families.
- Ensuring that confidentiality is always maintained working within the policies of the organisation.
**About you**
- The ability to motivate individuals facing barriers.
- Good knowledge of CSD/Family Support initiatives.
- The ability to work with people with people at all levels both internally and externally.
- The drive and initiative to work independently.
- Ability to share learning and develop practice through feedback.
- The ability to challenge, in a constructive manner, negative attitudes.
- Experience of delivering Community Support and Development programmes.
Ideally you will have:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- An organised and systematic approach to monitoring and reporting.
- Excellent IT skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, particularly for database-related work.
- Knowledge of statutory organisations.
- Experience of providing outcomes-focussed programmes to individuals excluded from mainstream society.
- Experience of providing in-work support.
- Full Driving Licence.
