Dsaa Operational Support Officer

This is an exciting and varied non-patient facing role supporting the clinical activities ofDorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA).

It is a full time 37.5 hour per week role working from the airbase in Henstridge. It is anticipated this will be Monday to Friday but on occasions you may be asked to help on the occasional weekend.

The role is wide and varied; you will be required to be flexible with responsibilities as the role evolves and demand changes.

You will have to have a confident personality and a good clinical background to work with the training team and lead on daily simulations and scenarios.

You will review the clinical cases on a daily basis for follow up; assist the clinical leads; help out with projects and source and input data into a variety of formats.

You will have an extensive clinical background to understand the pathways and terminology for the delivery of care both in hospital and pre-hospitality.

After appointment you will require a SWAST honorary contract; you must be eligible to meet their requirements and compliant with their demands to ensure this is maintained.

This is a varied role supporting clinical activity through both practical and administrative duties.

You will provide administrative duties through a daily structured review of patients that require follow up from the Patient and Family Liaison team. This will include looking through the notes of incidents attended by the DSAA critical and enhanced care teams in order to allocate patients to members of the follow up team. The notes from incidents do contain upsetting and potentially distressing clinical and life events.

The task allocation for the patient and family liaison team will be multifactorial and will take into consideration the type of incident, the location and other ongoing commitments within the team.

You will be required to input data from TARN onto the base database for all trauma patients. You will collect data for transfused patients and other populations in line with governance limitations. You will be required to complete databases including that of bereavement.

You will support and contribute to the monthly DSAA training days as per the annual training schedule alongside the DSAA training team, DSAA clinicians and the DSAA clinical administrator.

You will work closely with the DSAA Education team to improve training of DSAA staff through the running of simulations, management of the equipment and assisting with the ongoing training needs of the team.

You will join our highly committed and established team at our airbase in Henstridge, Somerset, ensuring that our Air Ambulance in Dorset and Somerset is available for 19 hours a day - every day of the year. This new post has been created to help develop the ever expanding and complex needs of our daily operations.
