**Job overview**:
Are you a dietitian with a sound range of clinical experience and an interest in working within Burn & Wound care? Do you have a passion for improving patient outcomes with best nutritional care? We have a temporary, maternity cover 0.6 WTE (3 days a week) part-time Burn & Wound Specialist Dietitian, at Clinical Lead level (Band 7), available at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust post.

**Main duties of the job**:
NUH is looking for an experienced dietitian with a strong ability to work independently. The post holder will be required to work within both the Paediatric and Adult Burn services and work in collaboration with the trust’s Harm Free Care Lead to support the Complex Wound MDT and Pressure Ulcer prevention strategy. The role requires flexible cross-site working between the trust’s two sites, City Hospital Campus and Nottingham Children’s Hospital. You will also be responsible for the service development and leadership of other Burn dietetic staff so this post is ideal for a dietitian wishing to develop their clinical, leadership and service development skills. You will take part in education events, student training/ staff teaching and lead dietetic audit and service developments, as well as attending the Midlands Operational Delivery Network Meetings which are intended to return to in-person events.

**Working for our organisation**:
We are a large and friendly department of around 140 staff including assistants and technicians providing dietetic and nutrition support across all areas of the Trust and beyond. The Service has excellent IT facilities and a dedicated group of non-registered staff who help provide dietetic support. Peer support would be available from dietitians working in other specialties at both campuses and external burn services, through established dietetic relations.

The Trust is committed to providing excellent nutritional care, led by its Nutrition and Hydration Steering committee. We have close links with the University of Nottingham, and take student dietitians for A, B and C placements.

**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:
You’ll need to have excellent communication and leadership skills, be adaptable and confident to work autonomously and with other members of staff within a supportive team. We expect you to be enthusiastic, motivated, able to evidence continuing professional

development and keen to develop yourself and others. Experience of nutritional support and evidence of a varied clinical experience is essential. Experience in paediatrics, critical care or burn care would also be desirable but not essential.

- Diploma or degree in relevant qualification
- Evidence of Master's level study or working towards
- Able to maintain professional portafolio CPD

**Experience**:

- Wide ranging and extensive experience of working within specialist area
- Experience of delegating to and supervising other members of the team
- Able to plan and deliver clinical education about theory and practice to individuals, team and the wider MDT (including students)
- Knowledge of current best practice within a clinical specialty
- Knowledge of national and local standards and national guidelines
- Able to undertake evidence based audit of own practice and the practice of other staff within a specific clinical area
- Able to evaluate current research and make recommendations for change in practice and implement these changes

**Analytical and judgement skill**:

- Risk assessment skills for the safe management and discharge of very complex patients
- Analyse information from clinical assessments and make judgements about appropriate interventions for highly complex patients

- Able to make decisions about the treatment needs of highly complex patients
- Able to make decisions about the allocation of a caseload to a team of staff
- Able to make judgements about the prioritising of caseloads when demand exceeds capacity and to re-allocate staffing resources
- Lead on the development of improvements in service delivery and clinical practice using evidence based practice to recommend changes
