We have an exciting opportunity for a dietitian to enhance their skills and knowledge in critical care as part of our team at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dietitian to join our team of critical care and head and neck dietitians at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH). The dietitians are valued members of both of these multidisciplinary teams and provide a high quality service to critically ill and post-operative head and neck cancer patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. As a team, we provide nutritional support for many specialist areas including intestinal failure, neurosciences, head and neck surgery, major trauma, hepatology, colorectal surgery and HPB. You will be supported by our band 7 clinical leads in critical care and head and neck surgery, working closely with the wider members of the multidisciplinary team. Knowledge of the management of parenteral nutrition is desirable, but not essential as training will be given. You will need to have excellent communication skills, a flexible approach and the ability to manage your own time and workload within a supportive team. We would expect you to be enthusiastic, motivated and supportive of the wider dietetic team.

We are a large and friendly department of around 90 staff including assistants and technicians providing dietetic and nutrition support across all areas of the Trust and beyond.

As a large acute teaching hospital over two main sites, NUH has a range of fantastic opportunities for staff to develop their careers within the NHS. The Dietetic service is part of the Therapies and Rehabilitation Services pathway, which is one of the pathways that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH. We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over 600 staff who work together to deliver high quality care. Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists, and our other staff encompass professionals such as nurses, psychologists, administrative and clerical and support workers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This job involves working with inpatients, therefore you will be required to wear the appropriate level of PPE

JOB SUMMARY

Provides clinically effective specialist Dietetic and Nutrition Service in given clinical area, including assessment and advice/treatment.

Acts as a source of expertise on Dietetics and Nutrition for staff, carers and patients including the provision of education and training.

Work as a member of a departmental team with the support of the appropriate team leader. The post holder may work on either campus of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

**Qualifications**:
Essential criteria
- HCPC registered
- Qualified Dietitian (4 year degree, postgraduate diploma or equivalent).
- Evidence of continuing professional development.

Desirable criteria
- Member of BDA including specialist group.
- Relevant validated course
