**£28,000 - £30,000 DOE**
**We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll / HR Assistant to join our client based in Bedford.**
This company are a leading manufacturer and supplier within their specific market and serves a broad range of markets.
**Purpose of Job**:
Manage the monthly bureau-assisted payroll provision for 3 separate payrolls using the electronic payroll system, ADP Freedom for the UK and for the Republic of Ireland.
To provide a comprehensive administration service to support and represent the HR function for the UK and Ireland.In all areas and responsibilities, to adopt a pro-active approach in identifying opportunities for improving procedures and practices withinthe department.
To be professional, consistent, fair and confidential when communicating with all employees and external organisations.
To establish credibility by demonstrating enthusiasm to provide an excellent service to all staff.
**Responsibilities / Accountabilities**:
Manage the monthly bureau-assisted payrolls.This will involve the collation and input of all relevant information for the monthly payroll including new starters, leavers, benefits, contract changes, sickness absence payments, maternity and paternity pay,overtime payments, pension deductions etc.
Additionally, a range of HR-related responsibilities including (but not limited to):
- Provide advice to staff and managers in relation to pay and payroll details/ processing.
- Ensure manual and computerised records are accurately maintained and updated regularly in line with GDPR requirements.
- The administration of benefits schemes such as Life Assurance, childcare vouchers, Private Healthcare and employee Cash-Plan scheme.
- Administration of the Company Pension scheme, including auto-enrolment and 3-yearly re-auto enrolment with the Pension Regulator, organising Annual Governance meeting and employee presentations.
- Administration to support recruitment and training & development activities and any other ad-hoc project work.
- Monitor and record sickness and other absences.
- Work closely with HR Officer and HR Manager on Occupational Health matters including writing to employees with appointment outcomes and decisions regarding the payment of Company Sick Pay.
**Experience / Knowledge**
- At least 3 years’ experience of independently running/preparing a bureau-assisted payroll function for min. 100 employees.
- Administration support in HR function including recruitment, data entry and statistical reporting.
- Efficient keeper of manual and computerised records - accurately maintained in line with data protection requirements.
- Knowledge of principles of HR - contracts of employment, policy and procedure, maternity rights etc.
- Experience of working in a busy HR/administrative environment.
Knowledge of HR best practice and knowledge of where employment law impacts a situation
**Special Aptitudes/Skills**
- Able to manage own workload, set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent IT skills - particularly mailmerge in Word, data manipulation, tables/charts in Excel.
- Ability to deal with difficult or sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- High level of personal organisational skills, including planning and prioritising to meet deadlines and conflicting priorities.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision and as part of a team.
- Confident and willing to take ownership.
Willing to take on new challenges and open to change.
**Part qualified or working towards CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice/CIPP qualifications would be an advantage**
