- We have a temporary opportunity for a Capital Engagement Officer in the Wessex Flood Resilience Team. The role will be responsible for helping us to engage on the biggest capital investment programme we have ever delivered. This is an exciting role that will help our communities and partner organisations, to have a better understanding of our work to reduce the risk of flooding in the face of a changing climate.
- Internally, you will help shape and deliver the capital engagement strategy, with support of engagement advisors within the team. You will co-ordinate capital engagement and offer advice and guidance to others to deliver effective engagement.

The team
- You will be joining a high performing team made up of 3 main areas of accountability: Flood Incident Management, Flood Warning, and Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Engagement. The team is based between 2 offices; Bridgwater and Blandford. We ensure that ourselves, our partners and our communities are prepared for flooding and are able to respond effectively before, during and after a flood. This role sits within the engagement part of the team.

Experience/skills required
- You’ll be an excellent communicator and confident in engaging with people, gained through experience in a community and/or partner engagement role. You will be a quick-learner, with a strong customer-focus, and a desire to make a difference.
- You will also have:

- Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external partners;
- an understanding of the impact of flooding, flood risk management and incident
- Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team to make decisions and achieve outcomes;
- a commitment to tackling the climate and ecological emergency through all areas of your work
- Good organisational skills including prioritising an interesting and varied workload
