Job Title: Residential Support Worker
Location: Salford
**Salary**: £26,232
Main Duties:
- Provide primary basic care and create a nurturing, therapeutic environment to help children progress.
- Contribute to the normal development of children and young people through the provision of a healthy lifestyle and stimulating activities.
- Work within consistent boundaries to create safety for children and young people.
- Act as a positive role model for children and practitioners, encouraging meaningful relationships and attachments.
- Be alert to signs of distress or abuse and ensure children and young people are monitored and protected.
- Work alongside children and young people to help develop a true sense of identity and self-worth.
- Be sensitive to the needs of individual children and young people, taking account of race, culture, language, sexuality, and religion.
- Engage, communicate, talk, and listen to children and young people and observe their behaviour, recording significant features.
- Liaise with other professionals, such as schools and social workers when necessary.
- Support children and young people to integrate into social activities and mainstream school.
- Use reactive strategies to support the behaviour of children and young people who are unable to manage their own behaviour.
- Contribute to care planning and the implementation of these plans.
- Work alongside psychologists to enable effective integration of care and therapy.
- Work with children and young people and their prospective carers to ensure the child's successful integration into a family when placed.
- Be a key carer of a child or young person where designated.
Relationships with Colleagues:
- Act as a member of the staff team, supporting colleagues and being prepared to receive support and advice as necessary.
- Participate in team meetings at regular intervals.
- Act flexibly, within reasonable bounds, to ensure the necessary outcomes for children and young people.
- Ensure effective outcomes for children and young people.
- Household Responsibilities:
- Share in the practical activities necessary to maintain the home to the highest standard.
- Set the highest standard in home making.
- Take ownership of the home, including the fabric, equipment, and grounds.
- Be accountable for monies allocated for specific purposes where appropriate.
- Ensure the children have a balanced diet.
- Adhere to Health and Safety Regulations and Procedures.
Personal:
- Keep abreast of good practice to develop skills, knowledge, and experience in accordance with your personal development plan.
- Take responsibility for your own personal development.
- Make use of regular supervision.
- Develop an understanding of Whistle Blowing Policy and procedure.
- Attend in-house and external training to develop skills, knowledge, and experience.
- Commit to ongoing personal and professional development.
