We have an exciting employment opportunity to recruit a number of Financial Assessment Officers to work in the Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support Team, or the Council Tax Review team.
**Title: Financial Assessment Officer**
**Pay: Scale 6 £28,470 - £30,576**
**Contract Permanent**
You will be an enthusiastic, committed team player, understanding best practice and customer contact procedures with experience in a Benefits and Council Tax environment. You will effectively respond to enquiries received by letter, telephone and electronically. You will be able to demonstrate a good standard of numeracy and literacy, work using your own initiative and prioritise conflicting deadlines, manage your time efficiently with good communication skills.
If you have experience of other welfare benefits and discretionary awards and enjoy working with the public then this is an exciting opportunity to join a busy team focused on high performance and working to challenging financial and operational targets.
You will need to understand and be responsive to customer’s needs, always presenting a positive and professional image to the customer, whilst ensuring effective engagement with vulnerable and challenging customers.
You will need a minimum of 2 years’ experience in either of these areas.
You will be responsible for dealing with complex Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support, and Council Tax transactions in one of the following teams:
**Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support Team**
**Council Tax Review Team**
Upon successful appointment, suitability to one of these teams will be discussed and decided.
A knowledge-based test will be part of the interview process.
