International Communications Officer

Overview:
Are you a good communicator with an interest in international relations?
As an International Communications Officer you will play a key role in providing communications support to our growing network of international offices. Working collaboratively with other communications teams, you will help to ensure that Scotland's voice is heard on the world's stage and our international work resonates at home.
The Directorate for External Affairs (DEXA) leads on engaging at home and internationally to enhance Scotland's reputation, pursue our interests overseas and strengthen our international relationships and partnerships.
**Responsibilities**:
- Increase our digital capacity through the creation of social media content - particularly graphics and videos (using Final Cut Pro).
- Liaise with the international offices and supporting their digital communications and evaluation along with delivering a training programme in graphics, social media analytics, and technique.
- Take the lead in coordination of social media content, including creating the weekly content note for the external network, and supporting the weekly communications meeting, to ensure it is productive and gives support to the comms leads in the network.
- Provide constructive and useful feedback to help improve our social media offering through delivery of the monthly analysis report.
- Work with marketing colleagues and the International Comms Manager on DEXA priorities for international marketing including European engagement, Burns and St Andrew’s Day.
- Build and maintain a strategic awareness of internationally-relevant work taking place across government
- Liaise as required with cross-Government colleagues and external stakeholders to build and maintain effective relationships and communications outputs.
- Contribute to team data gathering and administration activities including media monitoring, MiCase assignments, briefings and FOI case handling where required.

Essential Criteria & Qualifications:
**Essential Criteria**
1. Experience of creating engaging and accessible social media content. You will have some knowledge of international communications or be able to adapt your domestic experience for that purpose.
2. Good organisational and planning skills, ideally gained in a communications environment, including the ability to produce high quality work to tight deadlines.
3. An understanding and experience of social media and digital platforms and tools, such as Canva, SendInBlue and Trello, with the ability to collate, analyse and present different forms of information.
4. Ability to build constructive relationships and collaborative opportunities with stakeholders and staff at all levels while working flexibly as part of a team.
