Welder/fabricator

**Job Overview**:
The welder fabricator is primarily responsible for manufacturing excavator components with the additonal ability to design/fabricate/test/implement component solutons, in the producton workshop.

The welder fabricator must be able to follow instructons from the Production Manager, the job sheets and build all of the parts for the excavator to match the specificaton.

**Essential Job Functions**:

- The welder/Fabricator is primarily responsible for: _
- Following all safe work practice procedures and equipment use while working in the workshop.
- Reading and understanding the job sheets, parts book as they relate to the manufacturing and assembly process.
- Manufacturing and assembling the individual pieces of the machine ready for attaching to the truck.
- Storing finished components in the stores area.
- Cleaning, maintaining all tools, equipment, supplies, parts and work areas on a daily basis.
- Putting away all tools and tidying work areas at the end of the day.

**Responsibilies**:

- The welder fabricator is responsible for: _
- Following producton schedule demands to meet producton timelines.
- Reading all job sheets, parts book and preparing components accurately for continued manufacturing.
- Assisting other welders and fitters in moving large components or similar to maintain efficient working practices.
- Assisting the storage and placement of new product, components and supplies in the appropriate storage areas.
- Maintaining a clean and neatly organised storage area for products, components and supplies.
- Being proficiently trained and able to work safely with the following tools:

- All measurement, welding, cutting and bending equipment
- Metric Spanners and all tightening/loosening handheld tools
- Drill Driver
- Drill
- Angle Grinder and cutting discs
- Orbital Sander and Grit Pads
- Jig Saw
- Skill Saw
- Dremel/Rotary Tool
- Chop/Miter Saw
- Reciprocating Saws
- Router and Router Bits
- General hand held tools

**Decision Making**:

- The Welder fabricator is responsible to make decisions when: _
- Workflow systems are not effective and efficient in the manufacturing processes in the shop.
- Technical problems arise in the design and manufacturing of components.
- Storage areas are not maintained in a neat and organised manner.
- When safety practices are not being adhered to and or followed.

**Physical Requirements**:

- The welder fabricator must be able to meet the following physical demands: _
- Legally and safely operate a forklift truck if available in the workshop.
- Legally and safely operate a van on public roads.
- Lift and carry up to 35kg safely, at one time, during the assembly process.
- Bend over while working on various facets of the manufacturing process.
- Have the physical dexterity to safely operate large and small hand tools.
- Stand on his/her feet for multiple hours during production work.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £8.00-£14.00 per hour
