**What’s The Role?**

Our client, one of the “Big 4” are seeking an **ESG Team Leader** to work on a range of international development projects.

The successful Team Leader will have proven experience managing complex technical assistance programmes across Africa and/or Asia.

**Contract**: 6 months

**Role Responsibilities**
- Managing complex technical assistance programmes across Africa and/or Asia
- Building strong working relationships across geographically dispersed teams in complex environments
- Working on international development projects in developing countries
- Engaging with a range of stakeholders across government nationally and internationally
- Provide an ESG review of each investment proposal, giving feedback and guidance to ensure that it meets internal policies and procedures.
- Manage the engagement and output of external consultants to address specific issues with potential investees and portfolio companies.
- Use reports, and other available information to produce guidance documents to investment teams and portfolio companies on identifying and mitigating ESG risks.
- Ensure all guidance documents and lessons learnt are shared through the organisation on a regular basis, with ongoing training.
- Undertake thematic reviews across countries to share sector-specific lessons and practise.
- Undertake country-level reviews of existing portfolio to ensure adherence to local laws as well as relevant international standards, and to ensure relevant guidance in place for each jurisdiction.

**What Knowledge, Skills & Experience We Need**
- Experience in managing complex technical assistance programmes across Africa and/or Asia
- Track record in engaging with a range of stakeholders across government nationally and internationally
- Building strong working relationships across geographically dispersed teams in complex environments
- Prior experience in a management position in international development projects for a bilateral or multilateral donor organisation essential
- Prior experience working on international development projects in developing countries essential
- Climate smart/low carbon infrastructure development experience
- Urban infrastructure planning, design, finance, regulation, and governance experience
- Municipal finance experience
- Cross-border trade infrastructure experience
- Cross-sectoral economic infrastructure (water, waste, energy, transport) experience
- Smart cities experience
