**JOB PURPOSE**

To undertake design, delivery and administration of teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate and degree apprenticeship level in Mechanical, Materials and Process Engineering within the School of Engineering. To provide professional support for teaching, learning and assessment activities, including practical and computational work in the area of Engineering Design and Manufacturing. To supervise and support student projects, and to provide academic and pastoral support to students in the School of Engineering. To contribute to the development of high-quality teaching and the provision of a positive student experience. To contribute to open days and outreach activities.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

1. To contribute to the educational goals of the School of Engineering, including appropriate management and administrative responsibilities related to programme delivery and curriculum development.

3. To contribute to aspects of teaching, learning and assessment, design and delivery, including the creation of materials to support the full range of activities, including laboratories and project work.

4. To contribute to curriculum design and review, at a module and course level as required.

5. To transfer novel or innovative teaching approaches to other teaching staff as required.

6. To be an active and collegial member of the Engineering Build Space community, working effectively with relevant academic colleagues, the Facilities Manager, and relevant technical staff.

7. To fulfil a range of student facing roles associated with the School’s Engineering Build Space facility including project support and student design consultation.

8. To maintain an excellent level of technical awareness and technical competency in relation to current technologies and engineering practice in relation to Engineering Design and Manufacturing.

9. To undertake relevant training and pursue opportunities to work towards professional teaching qualifications (if not already held).

10. To undertake specific departmental roles, and contribute to departmental activities such as outreach work, student recruitment, or open days, as required.

11. To be active in the academic environment including attending Stream and School meetings, participating in committees and working groups within the School of Engineering, the Faculty and the University.

12. To ensure compliance with health and safety in all aspects of work and other University regulations and good practice in all aspects of work and, where appropriate, undertake risk assessments.

13. To support and comply with the University and School of Engineering teaching quality assurance standards and procedures, including the provision of such information as may be required by the School or the University.

14. To engage in external academic activities in accordance with the School of Engineering strategy and which enhance our national/international reputation. Such activities may include: membership of committees of academic bodies; external examining; working with relevant professional institutions; participation in knowledge transfer; development of industrial links and other related activities; and publishing in journals.

You will not be required to undertake research activities, although there may be opportunities to do so when compatible with teaching-related commitments. You will be encouraged to support the ongoing research activities of the School where possible.

The duties and responsibilities outlined are for guidance on the main aspects of the job. The post holder will be expected to be flexible in their duties and may be assigned other duties at the discretionary of their line manager. Occasional weekend, evening and overseas working may be required.
