This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 8A Matron to lead a caring and compassionate team specialising in the delivery of Outpatient and Phlebotomy services and to provide leadership and management support to Christie staff at satellite sites.
The phlebotomy services for which you will be responsible are for outpatients attending The Christie at Withington (main) site and for patients using our Bloods Closer to Home Service (BCTH). There are multiple BCTH sites across Greater Manchester with plans to expand these further, so the ability to travel across the region (in your own car) will be essential.
You will be supported by 2 Band 7 Unit Managers to provide outpatient services hosting around 95,000 outpatient appointments each year in this busy and expanding service.
You will be a registered nurse with an excellent track record of success in leading a team. You will be passionate about patient care and have the foresight and ability to facilitate and sustain change.
You must be enthusiastic and motivated and be a professional role model, encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential and be able to organise and prioritise workload, be an effective, approachable leader and have a history of managing change and developing a safety culture.
Support the Unit Managers to ensure smooth day-to-day running of a safe and effective service.
Facilitate innovative and evidence-based nursing practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team.
Act as a credible and professional role model, encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential.
Have oversight and support the Unit Managers in the HR management of the nursing team taking lead responsibility for sickness absence reporting and management, performance management working within Trust policy and procedure, education and development of the nursing team.
Ensure the governance processes are followed correctly and managed in a timely way.
Act as a conduit between the senior directorate management and senior nursing leaders to ensure that the services they are responsible for are updated and stay abreast of developments across the trust and ensure issues arising within the service are appropriately escalated.
Have budgetary oversight and responsibility for ensuring that resources are spent appropriately and considerately.
The above list is not exhaustive and the post will evolve with the demands of a busy department.
