The Scheduling team are an integral part of the London Ambulance Service ensuring enough resources are available to serve the people of London. We deal with the operational, 9’s, 1’s and other support services ensuring contract hours are adhered to by all staff, dealing with Annual Leave, Absences including sickness, meetings, training and general issues that occur throughout the day which affect staff and their hours of work.
Any staff new into the organisation will expect initially 202.5 hrs of AL per year and can enjoy 60 additional bank holiday hours to be added to that total throughout the year (Pro Rata if part time).
The role is a challenging one as no one day is ever the same and we strive to ensure best practise is adopted and processes are reviewed inviting staff to put forward their feedback and suggestions.
This role would ideally suit someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and has the ability to work autonomously whilst also being part of an integral team who support one another.
10 weeks training will be given to ensure the maximum support is available from the outset with ongoing training throughout their employment including the ability to continue with CPD.
We are open from 0600 -midnight 7 days a week/365 days a year.
Training Salary - Band 5. 75% per year is £23,650.50. HCAS is £4,730.16.
After Training - Band 5. 100% per year is £25,655. HCAS is £5,131.00.
Monitor the level of staffing and use of staff and vehicles against budgetary constraints.
Occasionally work without supervision.
The post holder will if required implement both the LAS ‘Fall Back Procedure’ and ‘Emergency Roll Call Procedure’ and be prepared to attend the Scheduling Department at short notice and be involved in the decision making processes involved.
The post holder will be required when necessary to deputise for the Senior Resource Coordinator.
The experienced post holder may be required to train new staff into the department.
Manage the allocation of staff on relief over a number of sites, on a fair and equitable basis to cover any deficiencies on the Resource plans so as to ensure optimal resourcing and operational cover whilst being mindful or relief staff contract hours and skill mix.
Manage the movement of Vehicle Crew Staff on and off complex using judgement to achieve optimum cover but at the same time adhering to the general principles of Service policies.
Splitting of staff to accommodate skill mix issues.
Movement of staff to achieve optimum resourcing across the Trust.
Use creativity, imagination and innovative ideas to resolve resourcing issues and problems which prevent the service from providing the provision of high quality patient Care.
In order for the service to care for people in London - saving lives, providing care and making sure they get the help they need it will be necessary to maintain regular contact with staff to deal with a range of complex and often contentious matters where the outcome will have substantial implications for both the Service and the member of staff. This process will often need to be dealt with a high degree of discretion and sensitivity. There will always be a need for a high level of consistency being mindful of broad service guidelines Act as a focal point for staff to report sickness or urgent absence, record details and advise their managers accordingly. Working in close liaison with Management Teams, assist in the Trusts management of such issues as sickness and unauthorised absence.
