**Job description**:
**The role and our team**

This policy officer role will sit in the Finance, Advice, and Standards team in the Net Zero Domestic Buildings Directorates which owns the policy levers to improve the take up of home energy retrofit. Our work ranges from green finance to innovation and the provision consumer information and guidance, through to setting standards and regulations.
- Homes account for 15% of all greenhouse gas emissions (22% if electricity generation is included). Decarbonising the housing stock will play a central part in delivering Net Zero.

The role is focussed on the development regulations and other market enabling measures to support home energy retrofit - including the development of a new multi-tiered consumer advice and information service, as well as interventions to facilitate low-cost finance from retail lenders to drive investment in energy efficiency measures.**Person specification**:
**Key responsibilities**

Responsibilities may include elements of the following (though objectives will flex according to the specific priorities of the team at the time);
- Leading tasks and work packages within the policy programme
- Drafting advice, responses to correspondences, media enquiries and parliamentary questions
- Supporting the procurement of products, services and research
- Building a robust evidence base and analyse evidence to develop policy options
- Supporting the development of spending review and budget bids
- Developing a strong understanding of energy retrofit, as well as how it fits with wider net zero policy
- Working collaboratively with other professions, departments and external stakeholders, building strong relationships to ensure delivery of the team’s goals
- Playing a corporate role within the team and the wider directorate
