**About the Role**
As Head of International Partnerships & Advocacy you’ll lead on engagement with international audiences by building and maintaining partnerships with global business, environmental, philanthropic and policy organisations to embed BECCS as a core tool in the global toolbox in the fight against climate change

You’ll prepare and execute a strategy for engagement on the global stage that pertains to all core components of BECCS (forestry, renewable power and CCS) and you’ll build a network of senior and influential third-party advocates for BECCS that can influence governments and potential customers on our behalf.

To meet our BECCS ambition we must embed BECCS as a credible and desirable tool among the world’s leading organisations. As the lead on CEO and Executive engagement you’ll be responsible for the development and implementation of a partnerships strategy to support Drax’s international ambitions. Which includes ownership of international event coordination which’ll see us at international events, such as COP, WEF, UN Climate Week etc where you’ll ensure Drax’s voice is heard in the global debate on climate change.

You’ll identify and lead on key engagement activities for the Chief Executive and ExCom, evaluating where participation will result in greatest value for Drax and shaping priority messaging. By working closely with strategic communications, campaigns, marketing, and external comms you’ll maximise the impact of our interventions on the global stage, ensuring that Drax’s purpose and value are brought to life through the creation of impactful content, collateral and materials that will help deliver our BECCS messaging.

**About you**
Alongside a passion for securing lasting policy change that helps to facilitate the positive role of the renewable energy industry in the economy. You’ll be degree qualified with experience in government relations and strategic communications, and a specific interest in the North American energy, climate change, sustainability, and net zero policy agendas. You’ll also have experience working in highly regulated sectors or industries such as energy, pharma, chemical, construction, oil and gas. You’ll have a proven track record of developing and executing effective engagement strategies in complex environments.

You’ll have first-hand knowledge of building coalitions and be a natural networker/ relationship builder with the ability to distil complex issues into simple language to key stakeholders. You’ve a proven track record of comfortably challenging the status quo and influencing decision making processes in a large corporate environment and building and motivating strong, effective, highly functional and agile teams built around impact and delivery.

You’ll have excellent organisational and written communication skills, and you’ll need to demonstrate a proven ability to communicate confidently with high profile external stakeholders and to deliver counsel to senior leaders in compelling and authoritative ways.

Finally, you’ll evidence strong analytical skills and experience of developing ideas into actionable proposals and the ability to influence positions of business associations and having them actively engage on a Company’s issues by putting an issue in a broader economic perspective.
