The Matron for Maternity Inpatient Care will provide forward-thinking clinical and professional leadership to midwifery / nursing staff at all levels within the Trust, ensuring that midwifery care is delivered to a high standard.

**The role will also**:

- Ensure a woman-centred approach throughout the maternity pathway.
- Create and sustain efficient care processes that provide high quality clinical care.
- Create a supportive environment in which training, coaching and practice development needs are accurately identified and progressed through agreed structures, appraisals, PDPs and performance management.
- Ensure appropriate provision and care for the management of resources for midwifery and support staff, consumables and environment
- The post holder will also contribute to developing the strategic direction and annual objectives of the Trust.

The Matron will provide leadership and responsibility for the following key areas in Maternity and work closely with the Matron for Intrapartum care and community services to deliver. The Matron will
- Lead with credibility and authority and be revered for high standards of patient care
- Lead on ensuring that inpatient related maternity performance targets and quality standards are met
- Be a strong advocate for excellent patient care so that this will be fundamental to all clinical decisions within the maternity service
- Be accountable for budget and financial targets within the area of responsibility and support the clinical division with delivery of quality and efficiency initiatives
- Monitor and act on patient experience feedback received from e.g. FFT, complaints, matron and improving care rounds
- That measures that support quality and safety within the service e.g. Health e-roster, Datix, complaints, dashboard, sickness and absences, are monitored, up to date and anomalies or concerns escalated where appropriate
- Ensure staff within your areas of responsibilities have regular opportunities for meaningful conversations e.g. staff meetings, appraisal and personal development plans
- Ensure mandatory training compliance within areas of responsibility is maintained above 95%
- Actively contribute to and influence the Corporate and ACW board agenda
