**Job Purpose**:
To coordinate all aspects of health, safety & environment within a designated area of responsibility, also completing internal management system audits and preparing for external audits by undertaking regular monitoring and measurement duties whilst ensuringlegal compliance is being met or worked towards, across the multi-site coverage of the HSE department.
Pro-actively consider safety, fire and environment incident philosophies across the organisation whilst assisting in all incident reporting in accordance with parent company and legislative expectations with the aim of minimising both accidents at work &environmental incidents
Follow and assist in HSE initiatives whilst reviewing horizontal cascade of the clients global incidents and taking instruction on strategic directives from Tokyo and European headquarters.
- **Job Dimensions**
2.0 Responsibility for assisting the manager in ensuring that the HSE’s Management System requirements are established, implemented & maintained.
2.1 Manage time to achieve HSE objectives for all areas of responsibility and assist the manager in communications for any notifiable or compliance matters.
2.2 Assist with external advisors to ensure monthly legal HSE updates are reviewed and acted upon.
2.3 Ensures the delivery of all HSE KPI’s in accordance with targets & wider initiatives.
2.4 Through liaison with the HSE Manager, ensures the effective dissemination of company policies on accident, incident and wider initiatives are understood and acted upon
2.5 Assist in audits under HSE’s responsibility, with closure of non-conformities to agreed commitments.
2.6 Drives a positive health & safety culture through behaviours & positive engagement across the plant.
2.9 Overseeing and managing expenses for the departmental budget
2.10 Prepare and project manage capital expenditure
2.11 Produce and implement procedural documentation along with process flows required
- **Principal Accountabilities**
4.1 Maintenance of HSE System, ensuring that it is kept up to date and effectively communicated to all employees and management. Establishing and maintaining an HSE data base, enabling analysis of all HSE matters within the Plant.
4.2 Fire prevention programme, coordinating and driving the implementation of cross functional fire prevention policy, procedures, education, auditing, and review.
4.3 Assist in external HSE services, such as, Europe HSE support, Training providers, Legal, Insurers and BSI, whilst meeting internal and external reporting requirements.
4.4 Maintenance of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 to achieve continued accreditation
4.5 Ensuring audits are carried out from the internal HSE auditing system to satisfy ISO and Europe requirements.
4.6 Ensuring that objective holders deliver on Mid Term Plan commitments by holding regular review meetings with objective owners.
4.7 Attend several meetings creating material and clear communication for the plant and external requirements as required.
4.8 Preparation & introduction of procedures and systems in line with legal, statutory and HSE guidance requirements.
4.9 Preparation of risk assessments to ensure that appropriate control measures are identified and implemented, also including the training of others in risk assessment preparation.
4.10 Provides on-going data analysis and management reporting on all aspects of HSE performance.
4.11 Creates and delivers HSE training and toolbox talks to employees with a minimum of one focus topic per quarter coupled with scheduled Dojo inductions.
4.12 Supports managers, section leaders and group leaders in all incident investigations and reports, with specific focus on 5-why and associated diagnostic / analytical techniques.
4.13 Works with local management to communicate HSE best practice, including representation at all department safety meetings including effective SIR promotion and close-out.
4.14 Conducts weekly shop floor walk & talk sessions focussing on HSE standards & improvement themes, whilst also attending daily production meetings for effective cascade.

**Qualifications or Working Towards** 5q.1 NEBOSH General Certificate Level 3
5q.3 IEMA Foundation Certificate
5q.4 ISO Internal Auditor Qualification
5q.5 Lead Auditors Qualification (Desirable)
**_Skills & Knowledge_**
5s.1 Calm with the ability to work in potentially stressful situations whilst also being able to diffuse sometimes complex situations.
5s.2 Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
5s.3 Self -motivated and well organised
5s.4 Ability to work on your feet and resolve potentially hazardous or dangerous situations
5s.5 Strong IS skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
5s.6 A good team player, with a focussed approach on engagement and active involvement.
**_Experience_**
5e.1 A minimum of 3 years previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within an automotive environment.
5e.2 3 years minimum experience in HSE advisory role
