Cambridge, United Kingdom The Royal Society of Chemistry Full time

Overview:
The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) seeks an Education Programmes Assistant on a permanent basis.

**About the Royal Society of Chemistry**:
A not-for-profit organisation with a heritage that spans over 180 years, the Royal Society of Chemistry has an ambitious vision for the future. Around the world, we invest in the education of future generations of scientists. We raise and maintain standards. We partner with industry and academia, promoting collaboration and innovation. We advise governments on policy, and we promote the talent, information and ideas that lead to great advances in science.

We provide advice, resources, and practical support to learners and educators in schools, colleges, and universities around the world. In the UK, we are the largest non-governmental funder of chemistry education and we influence government policy to ensure that opportunities to develop skills meet the unique needs of chemistry.

**The role**:
As an Education Programmes Assistant for the RSC, you will provide support for the work of our Education team by providing day-to-day customer services and administrative support to help maintain excellent service delivery.

Our Education team delivers support to the teaching community through a wide range of programmes and services. This includes Teach Chemistry, our service for secondary schools, grants and competitions including the UK Chemistry Olympiad, professional development opportunities, regional support, resource publishing and Chemistry Teacher Training Scholarships administered on behalf of the Department for Education in England. The Education Programmes Assistant will provide administrative support for programmes within the Education team’s work, as well as providing day-to-day customer service and delivering small projects to support the development of programmes where required.

**What we are looking for**:

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a proactive approach to customer service.
- Strong administration skills and excellent IT skills particularly with regard to MS Office Excel, Outlook and Teams as well as video conferencing software such as Zoom.
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail to keep accurate records, manage data and produce reports and able to work effectively on your own and as a member of diverse teams.
- Familiarity with financial processes.
- A basic understanding or interest in science education in the UK and Ireland.

The RSC supports development and offers excellent benefits. The contractual base for this role is our Cambridge office, however we are currently embracing hybrid working, and therefore you will have the opportunity to also work from a UK location other than this, as agreed with your line manager. Applicants should be aware that there is an expectation that employees will frequently and regularly attend the offices and occasionally travel as required in this role.
