**Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist**

**Location**:The Wellington Hospital, London

**Salary**:£50,000- £58,000 + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development)

**About the role**

As Oncology CNS, you will use your specialist Nursing skills and expertise to provide physical and emotional support to patients, coordinate care services and inform and advise patients and their families on clinical and practical issues associated with their illness. You will work across specialities to assist with clinical decision making and communication support, ensuring the patient had the best possible clinical journey.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Supports the patient, their next of kin and family/carers delivering excellent evidence based individualised and personalised care through holistic needs assessment, care planning and evaluation of care and all care interventions
- Act as a ‘key worker’ for a clinical caseload, working to coordinate care and provide easy access for ongoing support for patients
- Demonstrating sound clinical judgement in evaluating, interpreting and documenting the outcomes of nursing and other interventions including the evidence underpinning clinical practice.
- Assesses the patients and their families information needs and support needs by providing understandable information and signposting, to determine their own treatment pathway
- Provides clinical expertise, specialist advice and support across service boundaries
- Promotes self-management, risk stratifying patients into who can self-manage following education, those who will need guided support to self manage and those who will require ongoing, face to face support, in order to support people to live with and beyond cancer and its treatment.
- Act as a role model for excellent advanced communication skills and expertise

**Skills and experience**
- Registered General Nurse with strong experience of working within Oncology
- Experience of working within a leadership, educational role
Experience in administering SACT
- Experience of audit and research is highly desirable
