**Assessment Officer Job Description**

Waltham International College is a provider of Further and Higher Education for adults and aims to integrate the talents of its students with their visions and aspirations to support them in their success.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Assessment Officer to join our Professional Services team at the London Campus. You will work closely with the Head of Higher Education, Academic Lead, Program leaders and the Administration Team. You will have significant administrative experience within Higher Education or similar environment and experience of, or an understanding of, issues relating to Business and/or Health and Social Care courses would be beneficial while ensuring the efficiency and effective delivery in accordance with the College’s strategies and policies which influence leading-edge practices.

**Location**:260 Broad Street, Quayside, Birmingham, B1 2HF

**Salary**: 24,000 - 26,000

**Contract**:Full time 40 hours a week and permanent role

**Qualifications/Experience**:

- Degree essential or equivalent;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong team player
- Assessment Experience within an educational environment
- Enhanced DBS

**Duties**

To ensure the Assessment and Referral process is followed to university guidelines and standards.

Build knowledge of the assessment criteria and regulations.

To work alongside program leaders, deputy program leaders, tutors, Academic Lead and Program Coordinators to ensure the assessment process runs smoothly and to take any necessary follow up action.

Ensure assessment/examinations operate effectively, putting student experience first.

Take a proactive role in improving the assessment/examination process.

Be responsible for organisation of assessments across various campuses.

Ensure assessment guidelines, procedures and processes are updated in a standard format, and issued to all tutors, program leaders, deputy program leaders, administration team, and senior management.

Train staff on assessment/examination guidelines and procedures.

Lead the preparation of assessment information including complex assessment spreadsheets.

Be responsible for providing detailed reports to the Senior Management.

Responsibility for the processing of all assessment marks including inputting and checking of marks

Input results on the WIC database, ensuring student record is up to date with examination results/re-sits/referrals

**Person Specification**

**Criteria**

**Essential - **Significant administrative experience within Higher Education or similar environment.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to improving the student experience

The ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

Excellent and demonstrable organisational skills.

Ability to plan and priorities work to meet deadlines.

Ability to work to a high standard with attention to detail

Ability to deal with sensitive situations in a tactful and confidential manner.

**Desirable**:

- Experience with digital assessment tools (for example Blackboard / Moodle) and statistical analysis software.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £24,000.00-£26,000.00 per year
