Derwent Practice has an exciting opportunity for a Business Support Officer to join the Management Team in Malton, North Yorkshire.

**Job Title: Business Support Officer**

**Location: Derwent Practice**

**Hours: 30-37hrs per week (Monday-Friday)**

**Salary: Dependent on experience**

**Responsible to: Practice Manager and Assistant Practice Manager**

**Responsible for: To support the Practice Management team in the day to day operations of the practice.**

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Supporting the Practice Management Team in the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities**.**:

- Supporting the Reception and Admin Manager and providing leadership and guidance for the following staff: Receptionists, Secretaries and Administrators.
- Monitor annual leave of staff and maintain accurate records.
- Log all sickness leave and undertake the return to work interviews as and when necessary.
- Provide assistance to the Practice Management Team in Human Resource Management as and when necessary.
- Ensure all practice staff protocols, including the staff handbook, is adhered to.
- Assist the Practice Management Team with patient complaint handling.
- Deputise for the Practice Management team when required.
- Maintain records in relation to any accidents/incidents or defects affecting the health, safety and welfare of patients, staff or members of the public and alert the Practice Management Team where necessary.
- Adhering to the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR) and advising the Practice Management Team of any potential Data Breach.
- Ensuring the telephone system is fully functional and operational and recording calls.
- Reporting any telephone system faults to the telephone system supplier.
- Reviewing and updating of practice policies and procedures
- Ensuring staff adhere to policy and procedure at all times
- Monitoring compliance with health and safety legislation, COSHH, fire safety and providing leadership and direction for staff
- Assist with the developing, implementing and embedding an effective practice training programme for all staff (clinical and administrative) liaising with external agencies when necessary and maintaining a training record
- Assisting the Practice Management team with CQC standards, compliance and policy.
- Ensuring any repairs of building issues are reported and dealt with in a timely manner.,
- Maintaining the significant event database, providing advice to staff and briefing the team at meetings as required
- Maintain an equipment log
Any other duties as delegated by the Practice Management Team and Partners.

- A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (previously CRB checks) will be undertaken as a matter of course.
**Learning and Development**:
The post-holder will participate in any training programme implemented by the Practice as part of this employment, such training to include:

- Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of their own personal and/or professional development.
- Taking responsibility for their own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work.
- Undertake mandatory and statutory training as required.
**Team working**:

- Assist and support your line manager to provide a quality service
- Provide cover for members of your team during periods of sickness and annual leave
- Support and facilitate change as requested and by participating in team activities to create opportunities to improve customer care
- Undertake additional tasks as required within your general role
- Understand own role and scope in the organisation and identify how this may develop over time.
- Work as an effective and responsible team member, supporting others and exploring the mechanisms to develop new ways of working.
