Financial Controls Accountant - Accounts Payable

Huntress have been appointed to source a qualified CIMA (or equivalent - I.e. full CIMA / ACCA / CA) accountant / Finance Controls Accountant to join this multinational Gas and Renewables company.

Role Profile SUMMARY

Job Title - Financial Controls Accountant - Accounts Payable

Reports to - Group Accounts Payable Manager - Accounts Payable

Start Date - ASAP

Contract Duration - 18 months - Potential to extend

Working Hours - 40 H/P/W - Mon - Fri

Hybrid - 3 days in the office 2 days at home

Location - Glasgow ML1

Pay Rates:
PAYE - £191 Per day

Umbrella - £253 Per day

**An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controls Accountant to join our finance team within an ambitious and growing business, initially on a fixed term basis.**

Main Purpose of JOB

Reporting to the Group Accounts Payable Manager, the Reconciliations Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that all AP period closing activities are executed timely and accurately, through formal review verifying the integrity and accuracy of the data.

The Reconciliations Accountant will drive improvements in the period end closing activities and reconciliation processes within AP, in partnership with Group and Business Unit Finance teams.

The Reconciliations Accountant, in collaboration with AP Management, will also be responsible for ensuring control and governance through: (i) documented procedures and processes; (ii) segregation of duties; (iii) identification and management of risk (iv)compliance with our internal control framework

Key Accountabilities

- Management and review of month-end bank reconciliations, Purchase Ledger and all Balance Sheet control accounts, analyses and exception reports
- Ensure all unreconciled and unidentified items are resolved in a timely manner
- Management of accounting duties as required to ensure a high service level to all Finance and non
- Finance areas
- Ensure adherence to corporate standards and procedures in all reconciliation activities
- Provide feedback to the Group Accounts Payable Manager on how to improve on internal controls, and also identify areas where risks relating to banking transactions can be reduced

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

**Essential Functional / Technical Skills**
- Hold a recognised professional accountancy qualification (full CIMA / ACCA / CA) with at least 2 year's post qualification experience
- Excellent numerical and data analytical skills
- Possess excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Finance ERP's (Oracle P2P)
- Risk awareness and ability to manage and mitigate risk

**Business Knowledge**
- Experience of working in a large organisation's finance / accounts payable function
- Knowledge and experience of Accounts Payable best practice and procedures
- Good knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures
- Experience of working with multiple currencies
- Awareness of current regulations including IFRS / New UK GAAP and Companies Acts an advantage
