OverviewFinancial Accountant role at sportscotland. sportscotland is the national agency for sport in Scotland. Our vision is an active Scotland where everyone benefits from sport. Our goal is to be inclusive by design.We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team, who will lead the production of sportscotland’s annual statutory accounts for 2025/26, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks.As the Financial Accountant, you will have a good knowledge of current regulations and legislation in the areas of public sector accounting, audit and taxation. You will be the key contact for external auditors and should have experience liaising with external auditors and audit teams.ResponsibilitiesLead the production of sportscotland’s annual statutory accounts for 2025/26, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks.Act as primary contact for external auditors and coordinate audit activities.Prepare financial statements with a strong focus on public sector accounting frameworks (e.g. IFRS, FReM, SPFM).Apply current regulations and legislation in public sector accounting, audit and taxation as part of the finance team.QualificationsProfessionally qualified accountant.Good knowledge of IFRS and public sector accounting frameworks (e.g. FReM, SPFM).Experience preparing financial statements and strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.Experience liaising with external auditors and audit teams.Contract detailsSix-month fixed term contract to support preparation and delivery of 2025/26 Financial Statements and audit.Financial year-end is 31 March; engagement expected for approximately 2-3 months in advance and 3-4 months post year-end.How to applyPlease apply online and attach your CV and covering letter detailing why you meet the requirements, by the closing date of 3 November 2025.We anticipate interviews will take place 19th or 20th November.Employee benefitsFlexible workingGenerous holidaysCycle2WorkFantastic discountsGreat pension schemeSupport with professional developmentEquality, Diversity and InclusionWe are an inclusive employer.
