**Job summary**:
This is an exciting role at the forefront of security and delivery within the centre of government. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic self-starter to join the Security and Business Continuity Team in the Prime Minister’s Office, to play a pivotal role in co-ordinating the personnel and physical security of the PMO and support the wider team.
The Prime Minister’s Office enables the Prime Minster to deliver the Government’s overall priorities and to communicate the Government’s policies to Parliament, the public and international audiences. From the Policy Unit and Press Office, Switchboard and Custodians, to the Events & Visits team and the world class Private Office support; the diverse Downing Street team draws on varied expertise from across the Civil Service and beyond. The teams come together to deliver excellent service to the Prime Minister while also making No10 a great place to work.
**Job description**:
You will work closely with all members of the Security and Custodian teams and will have opportunities to develop your knowledge across all core security areas, risk management and operational delivery.
It is intended that the responsibilities of the role will develop with the post holder, specifically regarding the management of the security elements of high-profile events at Downing Street.
The team is committed to learning and development opportunities for staff.
**Person specification**:
- Key tasks include:_
- Working with stakeholders to arrange the necessary pre-employment security background checks needed by new staff as well as clearances for contractors and caterers
- Providing advice and support to new staff on the process needed to obtain different levels of security clearance appropriate for their role
- Taking the lead in the induction process for all new staff including the 1-2-1 briefing on the first day and the issue of the PMO pass. As well as more bespoke briefings on the handling of sensitive material, advice on travelling overseas etc. (Full training will be provided to develop knowledge as required)
- Producing or facilitating the issue of additional passes including those internally for PMO and externally to key individuals
- Managing and regularly updating multiple databases and produced monthly reports based on data analysis, making recommendations to the team on whether passes should be renewed
- Playing the lead role in de-briefing departing staff
- Providing regular updates on petitions which are to be delivered to the house
- Troubleshooting and resolve physical security issues and projects, co-ordinating operational delivery at Downing Street and Chequers
- Managing the effective running of the security office
- Covering for other members of the team as required, covering the full gambit of operational security work
**Desirable Skills & Experience**
- Highly effective communicator, both written and orally
- Well-developed inter-personal skills, experience in managing challenging stakeholders
- Delivery under time pressure, including effective decision making
- Experience within physical, personnel or technical security would be very advantageous (but can be taught on the job
- Stakeholder management, including senior staff
