The Primary Care Directorate (PCD) is a Directorate covering a number of policy areas across the primary health care landscape. PCD leads on policy to improve primary care in order to achieve improved health and care outcomes for the people of Scotland.
Primary Care, whether through a call to NHS 24, a GP appointment or visit to the Optometrist or Dentist, accounts for the vast majority of people’s experiences of the health system in Scotland. Its influence on population health outcomes and the function of the wider health and social care system cannot be overstated.
This post sits in the Primary Care Director’s Office. You will be joining a friendly team who enjoy working in an efficient but supportive environment where we encourage development and are open to new ideas.
The Director’s office works closely with teams across primary care, supporting and communicating with divisional business managers to ensure we meet corporate deadlines. We lead and oversee the running of day to day directorate business, governance (including planning and risk management) and engagement.
We also lead a Learning and Development group which is steered by our annual People Survey results and feeds into our Directorate People and Improvement Plan, which this post will be involved in.
**Responsibilities**:
- Ensuring our Directorate staff documents are kept up to date and maintained with rigorous attention to detail, ensuring the most efficient process flows are being utilised for managing information.
- Work closely with the Director’s PA, supporting them to manage the Director’s inbox and diary and completing administration tasks. You will be expected to cover in this role from time to time.
- Assist and lead on directorate commissions as and when required.
- Supporting the team with secretariat support when required (minute taking and helping set agendas for meetings).
- Oversee team booking requests, using SG corporate systems.
- Provide general administration support to the wider team as and when required.
You will be provided with 1-2-1 training for all main duties and be encouraged to attend various training courses provided by SG to ensure they have the right skills and tools in place to successfully carry out this role.
You should have an understanding of and be comfortable using Microsoft Office software such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel at a basic level.
