People are Jacobs’ greatest asset, and we offer a competitive package to retain and attract the best talent.

In addition to the benefits you’d expect, UK employees also receive free single medical cover and digital GP service, family-friendly benefits such as enhanced parental leave pay and free membership of employee assistance and parental programmes, plus reimbursement towards relevant professional development and memberships. We also give back to our communities through our Collectively program which incorporates matched-funding, paid volunteering time and charitable donations.

**About the Opportunity**

Our reputation for safely delivering quality projects on time and on budget is well recognised by our clients and our technical excellence and strong client relationships put us at the forefront of our industry, along with our proven expertise in managing large, complex projects in the UK and overseas.

What that means to you is the opportunity to experience a real variety of projects from licensing new technology to supporting existing generation in multiple geographies.

The projects include the following range of tasks:

- Assessment and analysis for operating nuclear facilities.
- Supporting the development and future deployment of Advanced Reactor Technologies (including AMRs and SMRs).
- Safety case and licensing support to UK and International Nuclear ventures.
- Providing specialist safety case training.

We would also be interested in hearing from those involved in engineering design and substantiation of systems across the plant from concept to detailed design who have safety case, security case and environmental experience.

**Here’s What You’ll Need**:
For those who would like to transition into Safety Case from other engineering disciplines, relevant sector experience would be preferred but excellent training and mentorship will be provided. For example, applicants with a background in process engineering, could transition as Internal Hazards specialist. Individuals with a background in the science of physical processes which drive natural hazards (geomorphology, meteorology, oceanography, climate science, earth sciences), may consider transitioning as External Hazard specialists.

For our more senior roles, you will be able to demonstrate successful delivery of nuclear safety deliverables and strategy on complex projects and development of more junior members of staff.

Ideally this will include knowledge of the following safety case topics:

- Hazard and Fault identification
- Design basis and Hazard analysis
- Deterministic and Probabilistic methods
- Safety Functional Requirements
- Claims, Arguments and Evidence, or similar techniques such as Goal Structuring Notation.
- Nuclear Structures, Systems and Components (SSCs)
- Hazard substantiation for high-hazard facilities
- Safety case development
- ALARP principle and hazards related legislation
- Awareness of nuclear regulatory regimes

In addition, knowledge of the following hazards topics is desirable:

- Characterisation of Internal and External Hazards
- Combined and Consequential Hazards
- Design Development and Substantiation
- Equipment Qualification
- Hazard Protection and Detection Systems

You will liaise with customers to develop relationships and understand their challenges to develop and present solutions. There will be technical meetings with clients, regulators and other third parties and the opportunity to be involved in the development of contract proposals and tenders.

It would be a bonus if you have experience of nuclear licensing arrangements.
