Headington, United Kingdom Brandon Trust Full time

Headington, Oxfordshire

Job Summary

Join learning disability charity Brandon Trust as a bank support worker and discover a genuinely rewarding role where working on a casual basis gives you flexibility. You’ll support people with a learning disability, autism or both at home and in the community to live life in the way they choose. You don’t necessarily need experience as we provide training. Alternatively, you may have experience as a care assistant or care worker.

You’ll have flexibility and access to shifts that suit you; you could choose to work for a day here and there, during term times or holidays, evenings only or weekends only.

We are currently looking for bank workers in Headington, Kidlington and Chalgrove.

About the role

You’ll join our friendly teams, enabling people with learning disabilities to increase their independence; there’s lots of variety. You’ll support individuals in all aspects of daily living; from cooking to managing finances. Supporting people with their personal care and medication needs is also key. As a casual bank support worker, you’ll also support people to do things in their community; from shopping and going on day trips to sport and visiting day centres. Find out more about being a bank support worker on our main website.

We provide comprehensive training, including the nationally recognised Care Certificate for bank workers who are new to health and social care.

About you

You’ll need good communication skills and a positive, patient approach. Respectful of people’s differences, you can build professional relationships and have a flexible approach. A full driving licence is essential for some roles.

If you’re successful at interview, you’ll need to provide training certificates to confirm you have the basic required skills. If you don’t already have these certificates you are welcome to use our eLearning resources to obtain them or use another training provider of your choice.

Once registered on the Brandon bank you’ll receive initial training to help you develop your skills and knowledge to enable you to complete your probation and gain your Care Certificate. We will assess your practice in the early weeks, and you’ll have plenty of support.

Successful applicants for this role will require an enhanced DBS check.

We are an Equal Opportunities employer and welcome applicants from all sections of the community.
