**Working Days and Hours**:Mon - Friday 9am - 5pm (37.5hrs p/w)

**Job Purpose**

Day to day operational management responsibility for ensuring that the Trust Estates Engineering services are maintained in a safe and compliant condition for all patient's staff and visitors accessing Trust occupied premises, ensuring the services are deliveredto meet statutory requirements, government targets and having a particular focus on making sure they are responsive to user needs. To make operational decisions and provide routine advice across all aspects of Estates Engineering management including electrical/mechanicalservices, associated PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance), Minor Works, Backlog, Reactive work, Insurance inspections, Compliance, Training and Technical documentation.

**Duties**
- The post holder is operationally responsible for supporting the day to day management and coordinating all aspects of an effective operational Estates Engineering managementservice.
- The post holder is responsible for the effective monitoring of the Estates Engineering services including supporting the activity of the divisional auditor, maintaining the standard operating procedures,ensuringheagreedqualitystandardsaremaintainedandprovidinganearlywarning of issues that will impact negatively on the servicedelivery.
- The post holder will be expected to provide an effective operational Estates Engineering management service to the Trust and other local Health care organisations covered under the terms of service levelagreements.
- The post holder will assist the Maintenance Manager to conceive and promote new initiatives for the effective management ofservices.
- To maintain regular contact with the relevant Heads of Service/Ward Managers, to ensure an efficient service is provided for their respective sites andbuildings.
- The first points of contact for service related issues and be responsible for the day to day management of safe and efficient operation of all Estates Engineering Services, including labour, quality of service provision, andequipment.
- Toliaisewithotherdisciplines,departments,managers,externalagenciesandserviceusersto ensurethatthedesignatedtrustsitesaresafeandofferhighlevelsofenvironmentalcomfortfor staff, service users andvisitors.
- Completing audits, inspections and surveys for the Estates Engineering services and where necessary to assist relevant external inspectorates to gain access to sites andbuildings.
- Ensure that monitoring reports are submitted in a timely manner and that corrective action is identified,actionplansproposedandprogressagainstcorrectiveactionismonitoredinsupport of the divisional auditfunction.
- Manage the day to day implementation of Estates Engineering related risk management action plans..
- To carry out risk assessments for all Estates Engineering services and to ensure current risk assessments are reviewed on a regularbasis.
- To ensure that contracted service providers carry out their duties in line with their submitted RAMs(risk assessments and methodstatements)
- To assist the Maintenance Manager in the development and regular review and testing of Estates Engineering related business continuity and emergency responseplans.

**Essential Experience**:

- Understanding of budget management, recharging mechanisms, life cycle costs and short term tenancy agreements
- Knowledge and understanding of the impact of change and best practice in change management
- At least 2 years experience in a similar role

**Desirable Experience**:

- Detailed understanding of health care operational environments including clinical and non clinical risk, patient focus,
- Experience in managing Estates Engineering contracts.
- Knowledge of operational planning techniques including backlog, work scheduling, prioritisation, resource planning, structure, function and values of the NHS and its interrelationship with other agencies.
- Experience in an related Supervisory or management role or can demonstrate an aptitude for management.
- Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
- Member of professional institute (e.g. IHEEM)
- Able to evidence continued professional development and post graduate study to Diploma level or demonstrate equivalent experience.
- Experience of working in the NHS in an Estates Engineering management role.
