Neonatal Practice Facilitator

We are looking to recruit an experienced Neonatal Practice Facilitator to join our team of Neonatal Educators within our Neonatal Intensive Care environment at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
The NICU at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is a state-of-the-art, purpose-built 36-cot Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that provides level 3 critical care to babies using its recently redeveloped world-class facilities.
We are looking to recruit a motivated member of staff willing to provide energy and enthusiasm to drive Neonatal service delivery forward. We are seeking an individual who shares our vision and values and who is interested in further developing a career in the speciality.
Education plays a vital role in training and development of all staff within this busy Neonatal unit.
The post holder will have responsibility for working as part of the education team in delivering bedside and classroom teaching with a focus on staff at Bands 2-5 and student nurses working within the department. He/She will assist new starters, course learners and pre-registration students in the planning, managing and coordinating clinical care for babies requiring high level of nursing care and supporting staff to develop these skills on the unit. We focus on developing nursing leaders for the future and therefore provide individualised professional leadership and clinical development.
It will be an exciting opportunity to work in a newly redeveloped unit, with state-of-the-art critical care facilities and in a busy surgical centre in the heart of London. Should possess excellent communication, assessment and planning skills are willing to work with change and challenge to ensure improved lives and futures for neonates and families. Should possess mentorship qualification or any equivalent. Must have experience working with students and newly qualified nurses.
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provide services from two main hospitals, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital, and a number of clinics across London and the South-East.

What we need from you
- Current Registered Nurse on the Child or Adult register.
- Post-registration qualification relevant to the area of speciality
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Mentorship qualification or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Up to date Newborn Life Support (NLS) Course.
- Commitment to teaching and learning for self and others.
- Experience in managing and supporting others in practice.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to be able to train,
- support and develop clinical staff.
- Experience of participating in clinical audit
- Effective role model, demonstrating safety, respect, kindness and excellence.
Roles and Responsibilities
- To support the implementation of a directorate wide nursing education strategy that links to the workforce strategy and the divisional strategic plan.
- To be an expert practitioner, demonstrating advanced communication and nursing skills, using expert knowledge and decision making skills in nursing premature and ill new born babies.
- To provide excellent visible clinical leadership and develop support mechanisms for sharing good practice across neonatal and children’s services.
- To work effectively as part of the Neonatal and Paediatric Education team to promote joint training, where appropriate, in pursuit of clinical excellence within the division.
- To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified within your clinical competence.
