Individuals, communities, business and government are facing rapidly evolving security challenges in many aspects of everyday life due to advances in technology, globalisation and living in a more interconnected world. The Institute seeks to improve security and resilience across a range of scales, from protecting the individual to ensuring the security of whole populations. Core mission areas include IT cyber security, industrial control systems (ICS), transport, financial systems and services, CBRNE, critical infrastructure security and resilience.

The Institute is expanding its research and activities in secure infrastructure and systems on a global scale across health, energy, transport and space and has established a Centre for Excellence in Active Societal Resilience and Security alongside its innovation ecosystem dedicated to security and defence, driving forward the College’s work in understanding Security and Resilience, leading collaborations and generating opportunities with government and industry partners.

**Duties and responsibilities**:
The ISST wishes to employ the services of a Security Science Fellow (SSF) in an exciting move to support the expansion of our research, innovation and education outputs in the key themes highlighted above. We are currently seeking two individuals to lead on the themes of
- Critical National Infrastructure including demonstrated experience in the Space sector.
- Complex engineering systems including design under uncertainty.

Security Science Fellow’s, together with other leading academics across the Institute, will be expected to produce high-impact and globally pertinent research and education outputs and initiatives, in response to national and international security and resilience challenges that strive to sustain and raise the international profile of the ISST.

**Essential requirements**:
It is essential that you have a PhD in a related discipline or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience as well as knowledge of security and resilience.
