We deliver high-quality programmes, from introductory to degree level, to around 15,000 students each year from three campus buildings in the North and Northeast of Glasgow and through a large network of community-based centres. The College works with partners to create inclusive progression opportunities in a vibrant and sustainable environment for our learners.
This post holder is a member of the Estates team who will be required to assist in the provision of a safe and effective campus and facilities service which is responsive to the day to day needs of the learners, staff and the College. This post operates Monday to Saturday over a 5 day period. Saturday working will be on a rotational basis. (Applies to staff employed after Aug 2015. The post holder will be part of the on call rota. (applies to staff employed after Aug 2015) The post holder will be required to work the working pattern at the Campus as required by the needs of the service.
- Support teaching activity through preparation for practical class work, for example Brickwork, Plastering, Carpentry and Joinery, Cladding, Painting and Decorating and Roof Tile, this includes - supply, stack and dismantle brickwork; mix mortar and plaster; move supply and stack roofing products; move paint and paper rolls when required; move supply and stack timber products, break out timber and make available for carpentry; cut timber and sheet material to size as required under supervision and guidance;
- Undertake general maintenance and cleaning of workshops, associated tools and equipment;
- Keep all workshops and other associated areas free of waste and rubbish;
- Store, distribute and collect equipment and tools from students on a daily basis across all Faculties;
- Operate the store rooms, check goods in/out, distribute materials and supplies, re-order materials for stores and other locations when required and assist Faculty staff in the issue and the return of equipment and materials across all Campuses as required;
- Assist in the completion of annual and periodic inventory checks;
- Maintain accurate records in respect of Health & Safety, such as material delivery, tool issue and other essential College documentation;
- Make daily, weekly and monthly Health & Safety checks and advise Estates Manager of any concerns;
- Open classrooms, stores and other areas as required to ensure readiness for students and staff and secure same at close of business;
- Assist with internal/external events/moves as required including carrying out relocation of furniture, materials and equipment and setting up and dismantling of displays;
- Deliver computers and other equipment to outreach centres and assist with the set up process where necessary;
- Carry out driving duties, deliver mail, materials and transport staff and students as required;
- Assist in general maintenance, repair and reporting of faults as required;
- Assist in ensuring the safety and security of students, staff and visitors;
- Liaise with internal staff, contractors and external visitors as required;
- Perform basic checks, maintenance and cleaning of the College vehicle fleet;
- Co-operate in the review of methods and the introduction of new equipment, procedures and technology;
- Deputise for Senior Facilities Officer, with the appropriate training, as and when required;
- Undertake the duties of a First Aider and participate in the College First Aid Rota; and
- Undertake the duties of a Fire Evacuation Officer or Fire Warden.
**Qualifications**:
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy; and
- Possession of a First Aid certificate or be willing to undertake training and successfully complete the course (applies to staff employed after August 2015)
