**Our Submarines Business**

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.

Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.

**Procurement Leader - Supply Chain**

Would you like to play a key role in the Submarine Supply Chain? We currently have vacancies for a Supply Chain Procurement Leader at our site in Barrow.

As a Supply Chain Procurement Leader, you will be responsible for the delivery of the Submarines unit Supply Chain requirements, ensuring materials and services are provided within budget, to schedule and in full compliance with the technical and quality requirements.

This role will provide you with a challenging and evolving environment where no days are the same; you will have regular interaction with suppliers to drive delivery performance. You will learn new skills and gain exposure to many different facets of the Submarine business.

**Your main responsibilities as a Procurement Leader will involve**:

- Managing own contracts in accordance with all the Supply Chain processes and procedures
- Maintaining the required levels of reporting across your team associated with:

- Progressing in Development and Production phases
- Cost management
- Spend management
- Supplier Performance (SPR)
- Schedule delivery performance of data and hardware
- Leading all aspects of Supplier Management including sourcing, invitations to tender, negotiation of contracts, performance improvements and supplier development activities
- Managing the maintenance and creation of Purchase Orders in SAP
- Managing the maintenance and creation of Teamcenter chronicles and workflows
- Being accountable for all related Supply Chain activity in line with area of responsibility
- Ensuring supply chain requirements are understood and supported through the interaction with other functions, internal and external stakeholders.
- There will be an expectation for you to visit supplier sites

**Your skills and qualifications**:

- Subcontract management experience in a defence or similar industry
- Proven ability and experience in managing collaborative supplier relationships
- The ability to interpret supplier performance metrics and to work with suppliers to address performance shortfalls
- Excellent IT Skills
- Management of cost forecasting
- Ability to interpret and manage data to be used for senior management reporting
- People management and leadership skills

You will have good problem-solving skills and have proven negotiating skills with subcontractors and senior stakeholders. Your management and Leadership skills will be an asset as will your ability to operate at any level in our or a supplier’s business. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You should be able to forge relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders with ease.
