The Cyber Defence & Risk (CyDR) team plays an integral role in protecting the UK against external and internal cyber security threats to ensure that our Armed Forces have the strong cyber defences they need. **Job description**:
The UK’s most sensitive information, operations and capabilities are enabled and protected using high grade government encryption, known as Crypt-Key.

This unique technology enables MOD's systems to be robustly secure, despite working over untrusted networks, in the face of the most technically advanced, hostile and persistent global threats.

The Cyber Security Risk Leader will be responsible for holding all military commands and enabling organisations to account for reducing cryptographic risks across their organisations.

**Responsibilities**

Responsibilities will include:

- Engaging directly with military officials, influencing and driving change across all 200 networks in UK MOD.
- Enable better decision making by identifying, tracking and reporting risks in a way that is understood by a diverse military community.
- Translate technical challenges into military language, implementing strategies and action plans to ensure that all military organisations take responsibility for reducing risk to operations.
- Manage and lead a highly motivated, specialist team across multiple locations.
- Build and maintain connections across Government, military communities, and industry, representing and advancing UK MOD interests.
- Develop and implement an active communications plan, to ensure that the implications and risks of not resolving crypt risk is understood.
- Implement and reinforce reduction plans for the use of specific obsolete technologies, challenging where necessary.
- Create and enforce targets for risk reduction across all military commands, ensuring that the importance of reducing risk to operations is understood.
- Work internationally to align UK risk reduction programmes with our allies, such as the US and NATO.

**Person specification**:

- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certificate in Information Security Management (CISMP)

Dependent on the business need, there may be a requirement to travel to meetings within the UK (or potentially occasional overseas visits).
