**Job description**:

- Crypto Services for Defence (CSD) is a dynamic, fast paced, Cyber focused environment vastly advancing and developing to meet with emerging technologies to provide security of MOD data.- This is an office-based job due to the classification of IT systems needed. There will be no opportunities to work from home. You may also be required attend meetings in the UK and on other Crypto related tasks within the UK. Dependent on the ‘tasking’ and business need, there may be a requirement to travel to meetings within the UK and for occasional overseas visits.
- The Crypto Custodian training held offsite at various locations and could be up to 5 days away from home and will need to be completed within six months of joining the team. The Cryptographic Alternate Custodian is responsible for the whole life accountability of CSD products and services within London and other areas of the south of England.
- Defence Digital operates an organisation model in which every individual belongs to a function. The successful applicant will be posted into one of the defined Professional Functions on Standard Terms of Reference for the grade.
- The Head of Function for each Professional Group determines the Continuous Professional Development path for their function as well as approving opportunities across Defence Digital for agile resourcing.**Responsibilities**:

- Working as part of a team delivering and managing MOD Cryptographic items which includes whole-life accounting and communicating internally and externally with customers and stakeholders.
- Delivery of Cryptographic material within a set period developing skills to deliver using many different systems for the ordering, maintenance and delivery of the Equipment and key under their charge.
- Raising external paperwork for musters and assist with internal musters and checks of holdings, whilst maintaining delivery and accuracy of Cryptographic material utilising the bespoke in-house computer systems.
- Contribute to the development of Cyber security strategies, policies, guidance and awareness. Aligning these with local risk management practices, local Communication Security procedures and escalating risks/issues and taking appropriate action.
- Recognising breaches of Communication Security Policy and report accordingly to the Communication Security Incident Notification Reporting and Alerting Scheme (CINRAS).
- Provide strategic level security advice concerning cryptographic material.
- Assist with maintaining staff levels at agreed control targets and undertake recruitment activities when required.
- Assisting with the role of Controlling Authority, Cryptonet Controller, Closed User Group Controller as detailed in MOD Policies, including undertaking any mandatory training courses necessary for this role.
- As a member of the CSD London Management team you will provide an effective interface with the manager of CSD London and deputise as and when necessary. Ensure section responsibilities are completed in a timely manner and maintaining relationships to ensure day to day business is transparent to the customers.
- As part of this role, you may be a line manager for members of staff, which include setting objectives and report writing.
- Provide regular face to face or virtual staff briefings to communicate core, departmental and local information.
