Cyber security plays an integral role in protecting the UK against external and internal threats, acting as a deterrence to ensure that our Armed Forces have the strong cyber defences they need.

The Cyber Defence and Risk (CyDR) team is at the forefront of Cyber Security and Information Technology within Defence and is responsible for enabling Defence through the provision of specialist assurance and cyber security services across UK Defence, including industry partners, other Government Departments and our international allies. Services provided by CyDR include:

- MOD defensive cyber strategy development
- Development of cyber security policy
- Managing and driving mitigation of Departmental cyber risk
- Security assurance and accreditation support and advice

CyDR sits within the Defence Digital team who provide digital and technology services to our Armed Forces. Defence Digital operates at scale, with an annual budget in excess of £2Bn and a diverse team of 2,500 colleagues, it aims to make our Armed Forces some of the most technologically advanced in the world.

**Job description**:
The Cyber Risk Management Analyst support role is responsible for assisting with the management and maintenance of the Defence Enterprise Cyber Risk portfolio as well as providing support to the Deputy Head of Cyber Governance, Risk & Compliance.

This position sits within the Cyber Risk Management team, a small, highly specialised team within the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) directorate in Defence Digital. We develop and maintain a wider understanding of cyber risks and capabilities, across Defence’s complex and challenging environments and identify possible gaps and issues to inform key defence programmes on how to mitigate these and understand how the resulting activity will help to reduce risks.

In this role, you will be supporting upward reporting and briefings, regarding cyber activity and resulting risk assessments, to enable senior leaders (all the way up to the Defence Board) to make informed investment decisions. You will also be providing a secretariat function to the team and the senior board.

As a Cyber Risk Management Analyst Support Officer, you will play an important part in the collation of Defence’s cyber risks, furthering the understanding of risks the Defence cyber community are carrying and enable their reduction.

As the team is evolving, there is a real opportunity to shape the role Responsibilities are likely to include but not restricted to:

- As part of the Cyber Risk management team, this role will develop a wider understanding of current/future defensive cyber projects and cyber capabilities, programmes and initiatives, to identify possible gaps and issues.
- Building relationships across the Enterprise to better understand the cyber risk landscape, supporting cyber risk owners to better understand their risk areas and the funded activity taking place to manage cyber risk exposure.
- Responsible for arranging Cyber Risk Management workshops, within the team and guest stakeholders, to assess various pools of data in support of risk analysis which underpins the Defence Board understanding of risk.
- Accountable for the creation of reports and briefs on current cyber risk activity and risk assessments to enable seniors (all the way up to the Defence Board) to make informed decisions.
