**Job Description**:
As a Internal Auditor, you will be assisting in the completion of assigned audit activities to the required standards, quality and timescales, in order to support the organisation in identifying and mitigating key business risks, thus contributing to the completion of the GIA Plan.

Performing and assisting on internal audit processes, such as: interviews, identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analysing evidence, and documenting processes.

Ensuring that assigned audit findings are tracked to completion by providing on going assurance that the business is managing relevant risks effectively, through support and advice to relevant Action Owners.

As a Internal Auditor, we are looking for someone to:

- To assist the Senior Internal Auditors (SIAs) and/or the Internal Audit Managers (IAMs) to develop and complete high quality audit programmes on time, within budget whilst operating effectively in frequently complex and nuance situations to ensure that target report dates are met;
- To assist the SIAs and/or the IAMs in the execution of planning and fieldwork stages of high quality and timely audit reviews to support the delivery of the annual GIA plan, delivering value-added advisory and assurance services;
- To obtain a clear understanding of the business areas being audited, including the relevant regulatory and policy requirements, and the systems used, to provide assurance that all key risks within the business have been identified and are being addressed;
- To clearly document the results of audit work performed and assist the SIAs and/or the IAM making recommendations for control improvements to the Executive Management and the Board;
- To professionally support the business in the development of effective, efficient and sustainable control improvements, as well as maintaining effective working relationships with all stakeholders;
- As directed by the HIA and/or the IAM, to monitor progress against the completion of Management actions to remediate audit issues with appropriate and timely escalation where delays are encountered;
- As directed by the the HIA and/or the IAM, to assist in maintaining a risk-based Group Internal Audit plan and approach.

**Essential** skills and experience**:

- Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and relationship building skills, at strategic and tactical levels, able to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences including Senior Management, and via a variety of mediums eg presentations, report writing.
- Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of IA, including Risk based methodologies, Codes of Conduct and industry best practice and with a sound knowledge of IA principles.
- Desire to study for recognised and relevant post-graduate qualification (IIA).
- Effective time management, planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills together with the ability to document the results of IA work to a high standard.
- PC skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

**Desirable skills and experience**:

- Experience in Internal Audit and/or Risk Management and Compliance in UK regulated, Financial Services organisations.
- Education to degree level or equivalent, which is relevant to accounting, finance or business.
- IT and data extract skills.
