**Your mission**

The role of the Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services Trainer/Assessor is to deliver, assess and where necessary offer support to learners engaged in Fire and Rescue Apprenticeships and other course provision up to level 3, in accordance with the Institute for Apprenticeships and awarding body guidelines. The main focus of this role is in the area of Fire and Rescue

Apprenticeships.

A key feature of the role is liaising with employers of emergency service personnel to plan and co-ordinate the quality of training on and off the job.

The role will also include the progressive development of the apprenticeship curriculum and the material associated with its delivery.

The role may also include developing and contributing to non-apprenticeship delivery of short courses including, but not limited to : confined spaces working, ladder safety, First Aid, manual handling, IOSH working safely, IOSH managing safely.

**What you’ll be doing**
- To deliver and assess Operational Firefighter and related Apprenticeships up to and including level three.
- To develop and maintain the current course material including lesson plans and schemes of work for a range of courses.
- Assist in assessing, changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement.
- Maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures. (ILP etc).
- To review course content and delivery methods on a regular basis.
- Assume responsibility for meeting his/her course and learner performance goals.
- To ensure all relevant evidence of learning is accurately and correctly documented and completed for each learner.
- Provide feedback and support to learners on a one to one/ group basis.
- To assist in the overall development of the training centre.
- To assist in the delivery of course material across the wider Gen2 course offer
- To prepare and assist in internal and external audits.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Training Manager.
- To provide pastoral care and support to students

- Experience of working within the Fire and Rescue sector, (Local Authority, Industrial or Ministry of Defence)
- Understanding and prior experience in relation to Operational Firefighter training
- Have a sound knowledge of current firefighting and rescue services protocols, principles and practices.
- An understanding of the National Fire Chiefs Council Code of Ethics and how this can be embedded in new staff.
- Good numeracy, literacy and computer skills
- Communicates effectively, both orally, and in writing, with learners, employers and other professionals

**We would love you to have **
- Hold an assessor qualification or be willing to work towards attaining
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification or be willing to work towards attaining
- Has experience of delivering and developing courses or training to apprentices or emergency services personnel
- An understanding of Apprenticeship Standards and the funding process
- Knowledge of alternative teaching/learning options
- Has experience of Training Needs Analysis and Programme Design
