**Job summary**:
The roles will support the Head of International and Intelligence Diplomacy in boosting JIO’s focus on intelligence diplomacy, to have increased international impact. The postholders will be responsible for building relationships with international partners and producing quality redrafting of high classification reports, ensuring the timely release of material for senior customers, often under tight deadlines. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the centre of HMG’s national security machinery, helping to inform the UK’s response to priority national and international issues.

**Job description**:
**About the JIO**

The Joint Intelligence Organisation (JIO) primarily supports the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) and the Foreign Policy and Security Council, the Prime Minister and other key decision-makers by providing authoritative, robust all-source intelligence assessment on a vast range of national security and foreign policy priorities.

**The Role**

The post holders will be expected to make a corporate contribution to the work of the JIO and support crisis working as necessary.

**Responsibilities**
- Support the Head of International and Intelligence Diplomacy in the prioritisation, triage, production and dissemination of JIO’s RELS for international partners, including supporting JIO analysts to identify products for release, and writing focused new assessment products to have impact.
- Support the Head of International and Intelligence Diplomacy to build a wide network of contacts, including London-based international liaison officers; UK officials overseas, UKIC and Whitehall colleagues, to ensure a coordinated approach to international liaison and intelligence diplomacy
- Day-to-day management of JIO’s input to cross-Whitehall intelligence diplomacy campaigns, including developing strong working relationships across HMG, building a knowledge base of JIO’s impact internationally through RELS, and of international partners’ systems and priorities, to inform a ‘knowledge hub’ of international expertise and feed into briefing for seniors as required
- Work closely with key UK government partners to produce edited versions of assessment releasable to a wide range of international liaisons whilst taking into account HMG policy and reporting sensitivities.
- Contribute to the team’s wider work or to other JIO work, both to support colleagues and for your own development. You may occasionally be asked to support crisis working or work unsociable hours, often with little or no notice.

**Person specification**:

- Have a track record of delivering an outstanding service to customers and quickly building strong working relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Have strong written and oral communication skills. This includes excellent drafting and editing skills and the ability to adapt material to diverse audiences, as well as previous experience of drafting/editing reports for senior officials.
- Be adaptable and enjoy working in a fast-paced, stimulating environment.
- Be able to effectively manage competing priorities and workstreams and find solutions to problems under pressure.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player, able to develop and manage close working relationships with senior colleagues across organisational boundaries.
- Have an interest in intelligence, foreign policy or national security issues.

**Desirable Skills**
- Previous experience of working in a national security context, or with intelligence or international partners.
- Experience of writing assessment (especially all-source intelligence assessment) or declassifying sensitive information for wider release.
