This is a really exciting time to join the MMO as we become an independent coastal state, embedding new repatriated functions and services with an increased focus on the protection and enhancing of the marine environment.
The Principle Marine Officer (PMO) Intelligence and Risk role has responsibility for managing the intelligence and risk team to ensure compliance with the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and support the delivery of risk-based, intelligence-led enforcement.
Ensure intelligence is handled, processed, developed and disseminated in accordance with NIM. Oversee the creation of evidence-based risk profiles and analytical products. Maintain strong working relationships with environmental and fisheries law enforcement partners, identifying opportunities for joint working to address intelligence and emerging risk.
**Personal performance**
- Engage with coastal and operational teams to communicate risks and emerging threats identified through intelligence. Support the delivery of risk-based enforcement through input into Tasking & Co-ordination Groups (TCGs).
- Ensure intelligence is handled, processed, developed and disseminated in accordance with the National Intelligence Model.
- Oversee the creation of evidence-based risk profiles and analytical products focused on the key risks to fisheries and the marine environment.
- Ensure all use of RIPA powers is compliant with Codes of Practice and Investigatory Powers Commissioner’s Office requirements.
**Finance**
- Ensure value for money through effective and efficient use of resources.
**Stakeholder Management**
- Maintain strong working relationships with environmental and fisheries law enforcement partners, identifying opportunities for joint working to address intelligence and emerging risk.
**Continuous Improvement**
- Constantly seek to improve engagement and utilisation of intelligence and risk products, ensuring consistency with other law enforcement agencies and established best practice.
- Contribute towards training of staff across the organisation in the use of intelligence and RIPA.
**People Management**
- Ensure all team member are equipped and skilled to be able to carry out their duties
- Manage personal performance of your individual team member through scheduled performance reviews and regular 1:1s ensuring personal aspirations and discussed and supported as far as possible
- Empower your team members to support their own teams performance
- Work collaboratively with other senior case managers to share best practice and ensure consistent standards by providing feedback on case work quality checks
- Ensure the organisational priorities are communicated and understood by your team and empower them to cascade this to their teams
- Provide opportunities to develop resilience and support succession planning.
