Employee Relations Partner

Contract: permanent
Working hours: 35 hours per week, full time
**Salary**: £55,000
Location: London, Docklands. Our permanent hybrid policy sees us all working at least four days across a fortnight in the office.
The purpose of your role
As an Employee Relations Partner at the Financial Ombudsman Service, you’ll be a trusted employee relations advisor supporting colleagues across the organisation. As an excellent coach, you’ll use these skills alongside your employee relations and HR expertise to deliver high quality, proactive case management and support for all employee relations matters. Examples include capability, disciplinary, grievances, absence management, ACAS conciliations, tribunal claims, appeals and flexible working requests.
Key responsibilities- providing sound and professional advice and guidance to line managers for employee relations cases.- coaching and supporting managers with people matters, you’ll be readily available when you’re needed providing first line support- having end to end ownership and management of capability, disciplinary and grievance issues- attending capability, disciplinary, grievances, absence management hearings and tribunals as required, including preparation and support with all written correspondence- being the escalation point for any queries from the HR support managers- working in partnership with your colleagues in HR, referring or escalating to your manager or HR and organisational development (HR and OD) partners when necessary- working in partnership with HR and OD partners delivering two-way relationships for sharing information and insight about relevant areas of responsibility- identifying trends and issues as soon as these are apparent and proposing solutions- keeping abreast of relevant employment legislation- making sure fair outcomes are delivered in an efficient way making sure no customers having to wait longer than necessary- always putting customer first and proposing practical solutions- working together across HR to ensure the service we deliver is seamless for our customers- being a role model for excellence in customer service and delivery- promoting and helping to build an inclusive working environment- delivering a fair and efficient service that reflects the diversity of our customers and our people
Your experience includes- CIPD qualified or equivalent relevant experience and the ability to demonstrate the level of skills and knowledge required for the role- having proven HR experience in a similar role and organisation- using your good understanding of employment law to advise customers and solve problems- having excellent organisational and administrative skills and able to prioritise and multitask on order to deliver excellent customer serviceshowing great communication skills and able to influence diplomatically and effectively at different levels- using your analytical skills to solve problems and identifying improvements to ways of working - and suggesting improvements to HR policy and process- using your coaching skills - in this role you’ll be coaching line managers in people matters and helping them to manage them rather than doing the task for them- showing excellent listening skills - you’ll know how to make sure your customers feel they’ve really been heard and understood- sharing your knowledge, learning from others and asking when you’re unsure- building excellent relationships around HR and the whole organisation - you know how to work collaboratively with others to solve issues- working well under pressure when there’s a lot on
