Bournemouth, United Kingdom BCP Council Full time

Job Introduction
**12 months Fixed-Term contract**

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council Adult Social Care Commissioning has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commissioning Officer role within the Disabilities Commissioning Team on a 12 month fixed term contract.

**Role Purpose**

The role will support the delivery of BCP Council’s ambition to grow personalisation within ASC and will focus on increasing the choice and control people have over their personal budget and their care and support.

**Main Responsibilities**

The development of personalisation and self-directed support is an important project within the ASC Fulfilled Lives Transformation Programme. The project includes the implementation of Individual Services Funds, the development of a community micro-enterprises, supports our new Day Opportunities Strategy and works closely with ASC teams to grow and embed a strengths and asset-based approach to ensuring our residents have a good life.

The successful applicant will work with the Disabilities Team to support the delivery of projects and programmes that develop personalisation and self-directed support. This will include the creative and innovative commissioning of daytime services and activities, identifying the provision we need in the future, action planning, service design and procurement.

We strive to coproduce our commissioning activity with people who have experience of social care, family carers, the voluntary and community sector and our providers. The successful applicant will build meaningful relationships with our coproduction partners and work alongside them to effectively ensure their knowledge and experiences feed into our work.

As a Senior Commissioning Officer, you will be expected to manage your time and workload effectively, show attention to detail, build relationships with partners and be able to identify solutions to challenges in the marketplace. You need to have confidence to engage positively and lead meetings, develop strong partnership working opportunities and be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences.

This post will suit someone who has previous experience of commissioning services or transferable skills that support the key activity detailed within the job description and person specification.

You will be working in a supportive management and learning environment. There will be opportunities to develop skills within a range of projects, attend wider meetings, webinars and training to further develop your knowledge and skills in the commissioning and social care sector.

If you would like to discuss this post further, please contact Kate Garner - Commissioning Manager, Personalisation and Self-Directed Support to arrange an informal discussion on 01202 127455

**About BCP Council**

BCP Council provides services to a diverse community of 400,000 residents and employs more than 5,000 people. Our area includes over 15 miles of beautiful world-renowned coastline. We can offer career defining roles to transform and improve services. By working with us, you can help deliver a vision of a thriving, word-class, prosperous and inclusive place for generations to come.

**Our Benefits**

We offer an excellent benefits package for further details see here

As a result of the creation of BCP Council in 2019, we are working on simplifying our terms and conditions of service and will be creating a single pay structure which is to be applicable for all employees. It is important to us that we offer benefits that our colleagues value as part of their total employment package and we are reviewing these to make sure we have it right. We have been in a process of collective bargaining since 2019 and have positively worked forward to reach an agreed position with the unions for the new contractual offer. This has taken longer than we hoped and therefore we are having to consider all alternative avenues available to enable us to remove inequality in the organisation as a result of bringing together 3 councils.

We are in the process of establishing a timescale for implementation, and all colleagues joining us will be included in these changes. We want to reassure everyone that whichever route is taken to reach the new terms and conditions, we can honour continuous service and there will not be any job reduction as a result of the implementation of Pay and Reward. If you have any questions at all about this process, please feel free to raise this with the hiring manager.

**DBS**

BCP Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the community and expects all staff and volunteers to share the same commitment. Applicants to this post will be required to complete the appropriate level of Disclosure & Barring Service Check. Please refer to the Job Description or Role Profile for more details.
