Technical Author

**What will you be doing**:
As Technical Author you will be responsible for the production of documentation supporting woodchippers and other machinery including operator manuals, spare parts manuals, service & maintenance manuals and training documentation.

You will work closely with the engineering team and Senior Technical Author to create this technical documentation, with the enthusiasm to engross yourself in the workshop environment to understand the production and maintenance processes in order to create a high standard of documentation.
- Researching and familiarising yourself with the relevant health and safety requirements and standards for operation of the machinery and ensuring the relevant information goes into the manuals.
- Manipulating CAD files and working with exploded drawings to create user guides and spare parts diagrams.
- Supporting Technical Author in producing documentation for woodchippers and other machinery including operator manuals, spare parts manuals, service & maintenance manuals and training documentation.
- Supporting Technical Author in keeping documentation up to date and accurate.
- Working with external translation agencies to translate materials into various European languages.
- Using existing translated materials to produce and update documentation.
- Getting involved with the build of machinery at the prototype stage in order to write service and maintenance manuals.

**What we think you need to be successful in the role**:

- Be able to produce clear and concise instructions that conform with company documentation standards.
- Be able to convey complex information accurately and simply.
- Have excellent IT skills and experience in learning various software tools.
- Proven experience in technical authoring roles
- Positive and progressive mindset, excellent work ethic and attitude
- Highly organised approach with the ability to prioritise and keep to timelines.
- High level of attention to detail
- Friendly and professional with the ability to communicate effectively.
- Can effectively manage multiple work streams at once.
- Solidworks composer or similar CAD manipulation package experience
- Experience with CMS systems (desired)
- Have a working knowledge of MadCap Flare and Lingo software (not essential as full training will be given).
- Experience with Adobe creative suite
- Willing to get hands on with machines and learn how they are assembled and serviced.
