**Assistant Director - Operations - Adult Social Care**:
- by Katrina Deryawish
- October 14, 2025
Ealing Adult Social Care is on an improvement journey so that we can enable the very best outcomes for residents. We’d love you to join us as Assistant Director for Operations.
We are recruiting for an ambitious, value driven and inspiring leader to take forward our journey. With responsibility for over 100 staff and a gross budget of over £120m, you will be focused on delivering excellent outcomes for Ealing residents.
As a registered Social Worker you will embody the profession’s commitment to addressing inequality, promoting social justice and delivering person-centred outcomes. This role requires superb attention to detail, particularly around data, excellent grasp of financial controls, as well as exemplary communication skills.
**Our vision**
As a council our guiding vision is Connected Communities, the understanding that communities and the connections within help everyone to fulfil their potential and live healthy lives drives our work day in day out. In adult social care we also know that there will always be a need for a caring, effective and responsive service to meet the needs of our most vulnerable residents.
**About Ealing**
Ealing is home to 385,000 people, and the population size has grown by 8.5% in the last decade. It is the third most diverse borough in London and the eighth most diverse borough in England and Wales - with over 1703 languages spoken and 56.8% of residents identifying as ethnically diverse. Our communities bring a wealth of traditions, perspectives and talents that enrich every aspect of life, from our thriving businesses to our schools, spaces, and celebrations.
As our seven towns are different, residents in each town face different challenges and there is a wide variation in socio-economic outcomes. That’s why our policy is underscored by a seven-town approach, which enables us to better understand the needs, inequalities and aspirations of our communities. This is illustrated by our annual public health report, which highlights the vastly different outcomes that our residents face. For example, residents in Northfields can expect to live almost six years longer than those in Norwood Green. Parts of Southall have some of the worst health outcomes in Northwest London, and Southall also experienced the highest rates of COVID-19 related deaths in the borough.
**Adult Social Care in Ealing**
Ealing provides funded social care to just under 4,000 residents using a budget of just over £120m per annum. Our service aspires to outcome focused support plans that maximize the enormous strengths and assets that residents and communities have. Driven by a strong commitment to co-production we have a vibrant structure to hear the voices of those who draw on social care and their carers. Following a Local Government Association peer review in 2023 we have developed a multi-year delivery plan which focuses on strong quality assurance and delivering choice and control for our residents. Following a review in 2024 the LGA report said ““You have achieved outstanding progress over the past 22 months, successfully meeting each of the recommendations from the peer challenge.”
We are not resting on our laurels and as our CQC assurance report indicates there is still more to do. Our delivery plan continues to focus on choice and control with excellent practice at its heart. Specifically, we are focusing on person-centered practice, technology enabled lives, modernised day opportunities - through our Better Days project, increasing the uptake of Direct Payments, developing accommodation based solutions and a real focus on working age adults.
Your CV should be tailored and include detail of your education, qualification, full employment history and membership of professional bodies.
Please aim to keep your CV and supporting statement to two pages each and include your name at the top of both documents on all pages used.
**Online technical first round interviews will be held on 25th November, with final round in-person interviews scheduled to take place on 9th December at Perceval House in Ealing.**
You must have the right to work in the UK. Evidence for the right to work in the UK will be requested at the interview stage.
It is an exciting time to join us, here at Ealing Council. If you would like to make a positive
difference to our residents and borough, then we’re looking forward to hearing from you.
We’ve tried to make this website as accessible as possible. You can use the accessibility widget on the right hand side to make it more accessible to you and your needs.
