Purchasing Consumables Co-ordinator

The Purchasing Co-Ordinator (consumables) is responsible for coordinating the purchasing of consumable goods and materials for the company. Working closely with suppliers to ensure that orders are placed, received, and paid for on time, and that inventory levels are maintained at the appropriate levels, and also with other departments within the company to ensure that materials and goods are delivered to the right place at the right time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinating the purchase of consumable goods and materials (production consumables, lubricants, PPE, cleaning chemicals, Dispatch consumables, workwear
- Identifying new suppliers and negotiating contracts
- Maintaining accurate records of purchase orders and invoices
- Monitoring inventory levels and placing orders as necessary
- Communicating with other departments to ensure that materials and goods are delivered as needed
- Resolving any issues that arise with suppliers or with the delivery of materials
- Maintaining a database of supplier information and pricing
- Assisting with reporting on KPI and team metrics
- Maintaining team inbox and dealing with queries in a timely manner
- Maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Creating Kanban systems for consumables (e.g., gloves, oils, PPE for example)
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Purchasing.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with purchasing software and inventory management systems such as Excel, Smartsheet, Sage ERP/MRP or similar preferred. any other software connected to purchasing system would be advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Good interpersonal and relationship management skills
