**Purpose of the Position**:
Soane Britain owns the only rattan weaving workshop in Britain. Located in Thurmaston, Leicester, the workshop makes bespoke, high quality furniture and lighting using timber, cane and rattan. Due to the demand for rattan furniture, we are now recruiting for an experienced or trainee rattan finisher who is interested in starting a long term career with us.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Working with our highly skilled Rattan Furniture Finisher you will be responsible for ‘preparing for finishing’ and the ‘finishing’ of all Soane Rattan orders in our spray shop, including all Soane standard finishes and custom finishes, you will be responsible for completing your work on time, to specification and to the highest quality. As a member of the Soane team you will also assist in ad hoc workshop tasks including tidying, moving and stocking up on materials. You are responsible for your own health and safety and of your colleagues, specifically following COSHH procedures and the use of the correct personal protective equipment. During quite periods training will be provided in other workshop skills that you may be required to undertake.

**Qualifications for the Position**:

- Experience in hand spraying water-based paints and stains would be an advantage
- An enthusiasm for furniture making, and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Hardworking and reliable with excellent attention to detail.
- Quality-focused with good levels of concentration.
- Possessing a good work tempo and motivation.
- Takes a safety-conscious approach to work with an understanding of the safe use of woodworking machinery, and hand and air tools.

**Salary**: £10.50-£11.03 per hour
